Fashion / Fashion Tips For The Ladies by yhuci(m): 12:26am On Oct 15, 2013
In the words of famous french designer Coco Chanel;
"fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions".

It is very important to keep this in mind while deciding on what fashion trend to embrace. I always maintain that just because a particular style is in vogue doesn't mean it is for everybody;(dem no get u for mind sow am) when women begin to understand this we will begin to see less fashion faux pas on the red carpet and on the streets.

A style that has grabbed my attention lately is the asymmetrical dress or the one-hand dress like most people choose to call it. This style dates back centuries when even men in the Roman Empire wore them, then they were known as the "toga". Fashion being what it is, it comes as no surprise that this style has evolved over the years and has still managed to stay relevant in our society.

The asymmetrical dress is a personal favourite of mine and if worn by the right person it drapes the body perfectly and exudes an effortless elegance that is difficult to achieve normally. This is why I cannot help but cringe and sigh in disappointment whenever I see the wrong person rocking this style.

What does it take to pull off an asymmetrical dress you might ask? Have no fear,I'm here to answer just that.

First thing you must take into consideration before you make that decision to wear that asymmetrical dress is the state of your arms; if you have been lax about going to the gym and subsequently your arms have lost their tone and become flabby then this style is a no-no for you. In my opinion the beauty of the asymmetrical dress is heightened when your arms are well toned, because this style leaves one shoulder bare it doesn't DO YOU JUSTICE if your arms aren't toned

Secondly, you must take your type of shoulders into consideration before you decide to wear that stunning asymmetrical dress to that red carpet event you've been looking forward to for weeks. While a woman with broad shoulders would totally pull off this style, it would not look right on a woman with slumped shoulders. women that fall in the latter category do not despair, the high-shouldered jacket was made for you. The high-shouldered jacket gives the shoulders a more defined, structured look and at the same time exudes sophistication. They come in different cuts, colours and styles and are designed to flatter different body types. Stars like Lady Gaga,Rihanna, Beyonce and even the late king of pop Michael Jackson have been spotted rocking this fabulous trend. Any woman worth her salt in fashion should have at least one in her closet; I know I do.

A woman must cause heads to turn when she enters a room so keep looking FABULOUS and remember: confidence is the most important fashion accessory..Ladies please look classy..

Jokes Etc / Tips To Get Your Gadget Stolen by yhuci(m): 9:14am On Oct 14, 2013
It’s very likely that you love your smart phone or tablet. It’s also very likely that somebody else does too. More often than not, a compliment, and a few ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ would suffice. Unfortunately, some people take it to the next level and would attempt to steal it. Here are four ways you can help them do just that:
1. Unnecessary flashing: Let’s face it, it’s no use buying an expensive gadget if you can’t show it off. But too much of that, and you’re unlikely to own your gadget for much longer. Avoid bringing out your gadget in rowdy public places such as bus stops, buses and markets. Even when driving in traffic, tone it down a little so you don’t lose your car window and device at the same time. If you’re particular about not missing calls, use a headset while on the move.
2. ‘Let me see’ syndrome: So many people have lost their devices to the ‘let me see’ syndrome. This is a scenario where someone you barely know asks to view pictures, videos or apps on your device, and mysteriously disappears with it. If someone you barely know wants to view your device, you would do well to stay close to them.
3. Forever Charging: If you keep charging your device everywhere you go, you are bound to lose it sooner rather than later. Having a low battery is not the end of the world, so don’t be too desperate to charge your phone when your battery is low.
4. Owambe: Parties are a good place to lose your device. It is easy to get so carried away with excitement that you are less careful than usual. A simple way to ensure that your devices come out unscathed from parties is to be device conscious. Another tip is to hold on to only one device throughout the event.
My dear what next are you waiting for ..MAKE IT HAPPEN!!! lol

Romance / She Caught Her Husband In Her Husband's Bedroom by yhuci(m): 11:54pm On Oct 12, 2013
A 42-year-old housewife, Mrs. Omolabake Bashorun, on Tuesday, told an Igando Customary Court in Lagos that she caught her husband inside the bedroom of their 60-year-old female neighbour. grin grin

Omolabake, a mother of two, disclosed this while begging the court to dissolve her 18-year-old marriage with her 43-year-old husband, Tunde Bashorun, a businessman.

The woman said that she does not want to die young and that she was no longer interested in the marriage.

She said, “Since the day I caught my husband inside our neighbour’s bedroom, he has been threatening to kill me.

“I caught my husband hiding behind the door of our neighbour’s bedroom, when I went there to pick my purse that I forgot in the room earlier that day.

“Our neighbour, a 60-year-old woman and I are very close; I enter her flat anytime of the day. On that fateful day, I knocked at her door to pick my purse. I could not enter because she had locked the door from behind; so she told me to come back, that she was sleeping.

“I insisted because I needed my purse to pay for what I just bought, so I forced myself inside the room and I saw my husband hiding behind her door, sweating.”

She added that since that day, her husband’s behaviour changed; he had turned her into a punching bag and always threatened to kill her.

“After beating me, he will pick any machete, a pestle or a knife and threaten to kill me if I refuse to pack out of his house. He said that he was tired of me and that he had found a new love.

“My screaming always attracted our neighbours, who usually rescue me. He also called my relatives to come and take me away; that if they did not do so on time, he will kill me,’’ the estranged wife said.

She added that her husband no longer slept on the same bed with her, adding that he preferred sleeping on the floor or going to their neighbour’s room to sleep.

Omolabake added that her husband also transferred the aggression to his children, maintaining that he was no longer responsible for their upkeep.

“He stopped paying their school fees and refused to buy them clothes; instead, he would go and collect used clothes from his friends’ children and bring them home for his children,’’ she said.

The respondent, Bashorun, did not deny the allegation that his wife met him in their neighbour’s bedroom, but said that he went there to collect something.

“My wife saw me in our neighbour’s room, but I only went there to collect something,’’ he said.

He submitted that he only beat Omolabake whenever she erred, adding that she was fond of reporting him to his friends and neighbours anytime they had a misunderstanding.

“My wife always reports me to third parties, which I detest so much that I usually beat her to make her change,’’ he said.

Bashorun said that he gave his children money for food, bought them new clothes and that he was still paying their school fees.

He appealed to the court not to dissolve the union, saying that he was still interested in the marriage.

The Court President, Mr. R.I Adeyeri, however, adjourned the case till October 21, 2013 for continuation of hearing.

Science/Technology / US Army Plans ‘iron Man’ Armor For Soldiers by yhuci(m): 8:10am On Oct 12, 2013
US Army researchers are working on building hi-tech body armor that would give soldiers “superhuman strength” in a real-life version of the suit featured in “Iron Man” films.
The blueprint for the “revolutionary” Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (TALOS) would include an exoskeleton to allow a soldier to carry heavy equipment, built-in computing power, beefed up protection to stop bullets and a system to monitor vital signs, officials said.
“Some of the potential technologies planned for TALOS research and development include advanced armor, situational awareness, command and control computers, power management systems, and enhanced mobility exoskeletons,” according to a US Army statement issued last month.
US Special Operations Command, which oversees elite Navy SEAL and Army Ranger commandos, put out the call last month for research papers on potential technologies that a “smart” combat suit could incorporate.
The request for “white papers” will extend through September 2014, and then commanders and defense officials will weigh how to proceed while taking into account growing pressures on the Pentagon budget, said spokesman Roger Teel of the Army’s Research, Development and Engineering Command, or RDECOM.
The new combat armor might also employ “liquid armor,” reminiscent of the “Terminator” films, though the technology is still in an early stage of development, Teel told AFP.
The liquid would transform into a solid if a magnetic or electrical charge was applied.
“There is a liquid armor that they are looking at developing,” said Teel, adding that scientists at MIT were studying the idea. “It could possibly be turned on with a battery switch” to deflect gunfire, he said.
TALOS “is an advanced infantry uniform that promises to provide superhuman strength with greater ballistic protection,” according to an earlier statement from RDECOM.
In a crude animated demonstration video released by the army on how the combat suit might operate, a soldier in science fiction-inspired gear stands in a doorway as bullets bounce off at close range from an unidentified enemy.
While ominous music plays in the background, the words “to be continued…” flash upon the screen.
The project’s acronym, TALOS, refers to the automaton of Greek mythology made of bronze that Zeus deploys to safeguard his lover Europa.
Despite previous weapons programs that came to little, officials say the technologies for the ambitious project are not out of reach, even if they sound more like the stuff of myth or movie.
The concept of providing virtual displays of battlefield forces in a soldier’s helmet screen resembles similar efforts already underway for a sophisticated helmet for pilots flying the new F-35 fighter jet.
Reflecting advances in robotics and computing power, the TALOS suit is part of a trend in current research focusing on what defense industry experts call “man-machine interface,” aiming to dramatically increase the capabilities of a single soldier.
Officials said the TALOS project is the brainchild of Admiral William McRaven, head of special operations command, who rose to prominence presiding over the Navy SEAL raid that killed Al-Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden.
“I’m very committed to this,” McRaven told an industry conference in July. “I’d like that last operator that we lost to be the last operator we lose in this fight or the fight of the future, and I think we can get there.”
As the proposed suit would draw on a range of technical disciplines, the military expects the project to be developed jointly by academia, government scientists and technology firms, officials said.
Special Operations command is “interested in receiving white papers from a wide variety of sources, not just traditional military industry but also from academia, entrepreneurs and laboratories capable of providing the design, construction and testing of TALOS related technologies,” said James Geurts, acquisition executive for the command.
And officials said it was too early to offer any cost estimate.
Although defense officials acknowledge the project evokes comparisons to Tony Stark’s superhero suit from the “Iron Man” movies, they note that no one is claiming the smart armor will enable soldiers to soar like a plane over cities.
“It’s not going to fly. It’s not going to be all that,” Teel said. “But it’s going to be special.”

Family / Grandmother Used Sledgehammer, Knife To Kill Baby, Prosecutors Allege by yhuci(m): 1:58am On Oct 10, 2013
Left to babysit her 6-month-old granddaughter, a suburban Chicago woman instead turned on the infant, bludgeoning her and cutting her throat, prosecutors said Monday.
Alfreda Giedrojc is being held without bail after a court appearance Monday afternoon, said Tandra Simonton, a spokeswoman for the Cook County State's Attorney's office. She was charged with first-degree murder in the death of her granddaughter, Simonton said.
The girl's father brought her to Giedrojc's home in the southwestern suburb of Oak Lawn on Sunday while he helped with repairs on a nearby home, Simonton told CNN.
"Her father and grandfather had stepped out of the grandparents' house for a short time when this horrific event took place," Oak Lawn police said in a written statement on the death.
While her husband was away, Giedrojc laid the child on the floor, pulled a sledgehammer from a nearby closet and swung it down on her head and body several times. She then picked the baby up and used a carving knife to slit her throat when she was still alive, Simonton said.
Oak Lawn Det. Mike Kaufmann said the 61-year-old Giedrojc expressed remorse for the child's death when questioned, and investigators have found no record of previous arrests or mental illness.
Attempts to reach the public defender assigned to represent Giedrojc were unsuccessful Monday evening.

Technology Market / Blackberry Explores A Sale Of The Company by yhuci(m): 12:03am On Aug 13, 2013

Struggling smartphone maker BlackBerry is exploring ways to keep itself afloat -- including the possibility of selling off the company.
BlackBerry (BBRY) said Monday that its board of directors have formed a special committee to look into "strategic alternatives" that would boost sales of smartphones on its new BlackBerry 10 operating system.

In addition to a sale of the company, BlackBerry said it would also consider joint ventures, partnerships and other options. BlackBerry announced its largest shareholder, Fairfax Financial chief Prem Watsa, will step down from the board to avoid "potential conflicts" but will retain his investment in the company.
Shares of BlackBerry rose 5% on Monday.
Given BlackBerry's long-running struggles, news of a possible sell-off hardly comes as a surprise. The company finally released its delayed Blackberry 10 operating system in January, but sales of the first phones on the platform have disappointed. BlackBerry shipped just 2.7 million phones running its new operating system during the quarter that ended June 1, and the company also logged a surprise loss.
Related: Blackberry 10 is not a hit
Still, BlackBerry does possess assets that could make it attractive to a potential buyer or partner.
Perhaps most importantly, BlackBerry owns a trove of lucrative patents. That's a massive advantage in the competitive and highly litigious world of smartphones, and it could be attractive to a big rival like Microsoft (MSFT, Fortune 500), Apple (AAPL, Fortune 500) or Samsung.
And while BlackBerry's name may not impress consumers, the company's reputation for strong security solutions remains intact. BlackBerry has used that rare spot of strength to launch several enterprise software solutions, including a new security platform for iOS and Android.
Experts predict that BlackBerry will have a tough time finding a buyer for the entire company, as no suitor is likely to be interested in the hardware business. Sale of the patent portfolio, for example, or licensing BlackBerry software may be a better option.
S&P Capital IQ analyst James Moorman said he believes "either selling the company, or parts of the company, is the right strategic move at this time." He warned, however, that "it will take some time for the process to play out."
If the process is indeed drawn out, BlackBerry at least has money to burn: At the end of last quarter, the company had $3.1 billion in cash on hand. ugomadumere..com
