Thanks but my carpenter said it's 2,100 in Ikorodu, don't know how true.

gordonbarrett post=93429771]The best way to manage it is to at least be able to estimate the quantities needed.

A board measures 1.2m x 1.2m which is equal to 1.44sqm. So for a room of 12sqm you will need 12/1.44 which will give you approximately 9 boards.

A board costs between 1600 to 1800 (Nigerite). After determining the cost of materials, you can then negotiate workmanship with your carpenter. [/quote]

One4me:

The Quote may be Ok or may not be, depending on your location. Cost of Labour in Lagos or Abuja for example, is more than double the price for the same Labour in say Zamfara, so it depends so much on Location.
As to what to pay the guy for Installation of Frames for now, give him 1/3 of what he charged for all the work and let him know that it is an advance payment and balance will be paid when work is completed. It is stil his money to collect afterwards.
If you give him more than that,, there will be no incentive to come back and finish the work, he has other jobs to do, mind you.

If you buy and deposit the Sand yourself, no problem, just make the material available for the Mason.

As to "movable" materials like Cement, you should buy it in tranches of 15bags and then replenish as he gets to Ten Bags of usage.
But you can only do these if you wil be available to monitor the Usage.
Artisans are full of tricks and they will certainly try to steal your Bags of Cement and resell it nearby. They can connive with a seller nearby or they can even use empty Bags to replace unused bags of Cement, for you. grin grin

Monitoring is Key, if you cant monitor properly, then God is your strength.
Goodluck

Thanks to great people here so far, God bless you all. However l need few directions/advise
1. I want to install sliding windows but the frame first to save money for other things n advance project. The burglary man has quoted 15k each for sliding windows with net but l want to negotiate for just the installation of the frames for now SO how much is fair for negotiation.?

2. My Mason has quoted labour fees of N100k to plaster four bedrooms bungalow in and out. Please is this a fair amount?
Also he mention the FF materials
20tons of plaster sand
10tons of sharp sand
55bags of cement
With plenty of water.

Please great people l need ur review and advise.
Thanks so much as u keep them coming

In addition l chatted with a contractor yesterday on how to get a good plaster outlook with those ugly cracks and mention the below three factors are important:
1. Cement, he said l should use elephant because it has less chemical and will allow gradual solidity
2. Whether, he said cold whether is best compaired to intense whether that hurriedly dry up
3. Type of plaster sand: he recommended one w less sticky or with less gum or best still l use only sharp sand.

He emphasize that using only sharp sand as against mixing with plaster sand is best.

Please great engineer how true is this before l recommend to my bricklayer?

[thanks, but ur advice wouldn't work because it was a result of brain box replacement that gave a scanned code which has been bypassed by my rewire as costless approach. If l must clear l will buy another brain box and that procedure is expensive

Please how much is it to do inspection? And is any car45 around Anthony?

quote author=davit post=90905789]For Bolt, you re good to go. But Uber, especially if you do the inspection at cars 45, they may not be nice to you.
