Stinson007:Go and do your research well, Calabar never had the same opportunities, in fact calabar is not officially and has never been officially recognised as the capital of Nigeria. People came to Lagos because it had a sea port and airport, job creating infrastructures, Calabar till today has neither. |

ipodstinks: Lagos was capital of Nigeria from 1914 till 1991, this period also encompasses Nigeria's oil boom, naturally Lagos benefited most, also making Lagos the first official capital of Nigeria. Calabar was the capital before 1914 this was before amalgamation or independence, I don't know how you expected them to have the same opportunities as a city that witnessed modern industrialization. 2 Likes |

The OP is very correct, the ports and airports in Lagos was not developed by the state government, in Nigeria today Lagos has the best international airport and sea port all these were developed and are still being developed by the FG, constitutionally these resources can only be controlled by the FG. NPA, Ministry of transport, Ministry of Aviation, Faan these are all organisations in charge of such infrastructure they are all federal controlled. Under Peter Odili's Tenure in River's, he gave the Ministry of Aviation 4 billion for repairs in the Rivers airport, he couldn't do it himself though the airport was in his state , it was above his jurisdiction. Recently regulations were changed at Onne seaport by the FG leaving it almost useless, state government was powerless and could do nothing. Lagos has been given unfair advantage, it's the nature of Nigeria. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Sports / MFM Vs Plateau Untd On Sunday by youngbest(m): 1:23pm On Mar 16, 2017 |
On Sunday 19th March, NPFL table toppers Plateau United will be hosted by MFM FC at the Agege stadium. The game is very promising, Plateau United has been getting good results away from home, MFM has been tearing teams apart at Agege infact some weeks back they won CNN goal of the week from a wonderful goal against holders Rangers. I have always followed the NPFL but this season I want to watch games live so this Sunday I want to go to the Agege stadium. Please fellow NL's who have gone there, how much is a ticket and are there any tips you can give. Thanks. 1 Like |

Court process will frustrate you OP, in fact after going to court you will wish you built duplex for only yourself, the law in Lagos favours tenants not landlords, instant eviction notice is a pipe dream. Like someone suggested remove windows and doors that will definitely work 1 Like |

A lot of football nerds are on nairaland, someone talked about using wing backs which is very exciting but 3-4-3 needs a very disciplined and organised back line, you can't just switch to it mid tournament it's too risky even though I think we have the players for it. The coach uses a very balanced approach to her formation, she doesn't use any over zealous attacking midfielder just central midfielders that hold and release the ball and are always there to support the back line, the Ghanians crowded the middle I think they used just a forward, they didn't give our mid field space and time to pick out passes and hold the ball comfortably, their full backs didn't attack at all they constricted us to the middle wonderful play from them. I felt she could have removed a winger for an attacking midfielder(Okobi) to add more bodies for us in the middle, bring creativity and also to push the ball closer to the opponents box, then have a front two who hang around the center defenders pushing them back, waiting for through balls because I saw a lot of space between the Ghanian defenders but we kept throwing the ball up and wide (kinda lazy tactics and easy to kill) which they prepared for and dealt with accordingly. For me it was a very exciting tactical battle, that we even had a chance shows just how talented our ladies were, they reacted to what the Ghanians did, Wogu kept coming to midfield to assist and push the ball forward, Ordega kept coming into the 8 position to hold the ball, but they kept returning to the original formation which wasn't working, am sure they are all very exhausted. The women's game in Africa has so much improved, Ghana has built a fantastic system, all there female teams were so tactical I watched them at the junior world cups, they don't have the talent but modern football has taught us organisation and tactics(Germany vs Brazil) trumps talent I hope the coach watches the match again and come up with a better response next time. 3 Likes 1 Share |

This game has brought to question the tactical knowledge of our coach, from the first half it was obvious that 4-3-3 won't work but she didn't do anything to change situation. The Ghanians locked our forwards up, our mid fielders fought a gallant battle but they lost, their tiredness was so obvious in the closing stages. It was an enjoyable match but we came up short in the battle of brains. I hope our coach improves the girls showed gallantry and balls. 1 Like 1 Share |

Ghana has played a very tactically disciplined game, they have closed down our attack very well. The work they have done in developing their women football is paying off, we can't keep playing 4-3-3 in this game, we need to beef up our middle. 1 Like |

Very tough game, the Ghanians are winning the midfield battle, forcing our forwards to come into the center to get the ball especially Wogu. Ordega is wonderful to watch, she has matured well, her hold up play has being very good it's easy to see why Sunday has lost that left wing 1 Like |
Sports / Re: African Women’s Cup Of Nations: Nigeria Vs Mali 6 - 0 (Full Time) by youngbest(m): 11:26pm On Nov 20, 2016 |
A lot of people are rightly criticising the performance of our WNT in international competitions, but are yet to ask why they perform poorly internationally. In Africa the commitment to Women football is poor all over, Ghana and SA are the only FA's that treat their women right. Internationally we play countries that have solid leagues and even intercontinental competitions, who make adequate and thorough preparations before these competitions, this is exactly what shows us up. The world cup last year was terrible, the coach wanted camping to start 5 months before the mundial like some other teams did, he kept crying and crying but only received funds to start training just a month to the competition. This year has seen the trend continue with the Women U-17 and U-20, piss poor preparation. The U-20 coach who got to the final of the last competition asked that nothing be expected from him and even questioned their presence in the competion. Still they got six points and were lucky not to qualify to the next round. Obviously talented. Till something changes they will keep underperforming internationally which is sad, cos they have proved that they deserve the investment. 6 Likes |

Politics / Imo State Pensioners Protest In Front Of The State Government House (Pictures ) by youngbest(m): 9:26am On Jun 15, 2016 |
Retired state civil servants of Imo state are currently staging a mass peaceful protest in front of the state government house, they say they have not being paid for 36 months, they blocked the okigwe Road weathrel roundabout and have caused massive traffic gridlock. Quite amusing is the fact that the people in the traffic seem to be empathetic to their plight and are not complaining. It seems no government official has addressed them yet. 1 Like

Op I think you are not entirely correct, during festive periods in the village we always listen to Bright Chimezie, Sir Ultimate Warrior, Chief Osadebe, Nelly Uchendu e.t.c we even mix with new artists like Pammy Udu bunch, Ozemenam Ogene, Phyno e.t.c. I know a lot of igbos are not fans of Phyno but seriously I think people like him, flavour, ruff coin, zero are the next generation and will likely do more to save our language than anyone else. |
