Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Yvete(f): 3:53pm On Jul 05, 2013
A child born in the United States is entitiled to US citizenship, but to get a US passport, signatures of both parents are required.

Quick question: If the father of a child is in Nigeria, how and where do we notarize the letter? At the US embassy or any courthouse in Nigeria? Does it have to be hand written and mailed over here or scanned and printed? Thanks.

Family / Re: Do You Think Is Wrong For Bride To Lend Her Groom Money To Pay Her Bride Price? by Yvete(f): 11:18pm On Jul 03, 2013
You are to decide what's right or wrong. How does it make you feel? Do you attach importance to stuff like that? If its no biggie, lend him the money (I wouldn't lend him a dime). If your parents requested an outrageous amount for your bride price, call them to order.

In the end, keep your private business to yourself. Don't tell your family, friends or colleagues that could rub it in your face. Enjoy!

steph7: So I retouched my hair today, I already have very full hair and thanks to the castor oil, my hair is fuller sad, it didn't grow at all, instead my hair cut. my regimen while i was on my stretch was locing the hair and using castor oil. what can I do to make my hair get length

I experienced hair loss with my first 6-months stretch because I over-stretched to the point of breaking. Maybe you stretched for too long. How often do you wash the castor oil off your scalp? I wash mine off at least once a week because of its thick consistency. Make sure your scalp is clean and oiled, and it will grow.

Horbalawler: D last time i relax was in april, bt i feel my hair is weak and also want to change my relaxer. Dont no if DR miracle will be okay,,, i need som advice on wat to do nxt,, wether to strech or retouch,, pls help

If your hair is weak, relaxer breaks it down even more. Don't retouch until it feels strong, full or if you can't handle a stretch anymore then retouch lightly (blow-out). I suggest you buy a normal strength relaxer. All you need is to moisturize your hair daily to avoid dryness. Dr. Miracle relaxer works great on my coarse hair.

Travel / Re: Nigerians And Fake Accent by Yvete(f): 7:10pm On Jun 29, 2013
Not everyone deliberately fakes an accent. If you school and reside outside Nigeria for a while, your accent modifies over time. You don't know when your diction changes too. How many Nigerians in the US ask questions in full like "How are you doing?" Lolz, seriously!

Anyways, clear communication skills is essential. It would hurt if anyone doubts your intelligence because you speak like you just hopped off Kenya Airways.

Travel / Re: Traveling To Mexico General Enquiries by Yvete(f): 7:03pm On Jun 29, 2013
^^ Yea, you can't get a direct flight from Nigeria to Mexico. You need a transit visa. Contact the British Embassy (BA), the Netherlands (KLM) or German Embassy (Lufthansa). It's about 14 hours direct flight from Europe. My cousin was a first time traveler and he was able to secure a transit visa through the Netherlands to Mexico with 6-hr wait. With a student visa, they'll let you purchase one-way ticket.

Fashion / Why Would You Buy Designer Stuff, Brand Name Or Fit? by Yvete(f): 1:31am On Jun 28, 2013
For instance, why spend $285 on a pair of Auth Gucci sunglasses when you can get nice sunglasses for $7.99?

1. Expensive label/ name /logo
2. Fit
3. Price tag - You think the more expensive, the better.
4. Quality
5. To impress others
6. You don't look at price tags or name-brands cheesy

Premium Designers - not High-street fashion like H&M, Forever 21, Next, etc grin

Food / Re: Which Blender Type Is Durable And Can Grind Beans. by Yvete(f): 2:18pm On Jun 27, 2013
Quick question: What is the right consistency for Moi-moi while blending beans?

Its my first time making Moi-moi and I don't know if its okay to use a lot of water while blending beans. I'm worried that the texture is too hard. Are brown beans easier to peel than black-eyed beans? My fingers hurt, I almost gave up grin

kpolli: What is your own definition of greatness? Someone who just stayed in jail until his wife fought for his freedom then divorced her... Is that a sign of greatness?

Mehn u need to get the true story, not the lies they told us while growing up

Just curious ... what lies? ... but Mandela start the freedom movement. I've not heard anything contrary to the positive information we know about Mandela. Kpolli, give to Caesar what is Caesar's ... Give credit where its due grin

I think uncertainty and excess baggage are the root cause of anxiety. My stress level increased in the past few days. When I sleep, my dreams are a continuation of thoughts from my real-life (in my consciousness). I'm trying to do too much in such little time. Whew!

Anxiety is keeping me up at night. cry At 6am, this verse from Philippians comes to mind ...

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus".
