Jokes Etc / Crazy Things I Done Did by Zico0(m): 8:29pm On Dec 01, 2014
Trying to get across, a pam got of my foot in the middle of the road. Guess what! there are vehicles approaching on both sides of me. Imagine.

It is raining, i board a bike and decided to leave my umbrella up. Guess what... The wind caused with the speed blew the umbrella inside out, damaging it.

I went on a journey of three hours (like travelling) knowing that the money on me might not take me there and back, and i didn't have any relatives in my destination. Guess what!... I didn't accomplish my objective and by the time i was done i had just N100 left. I just but a laca sera and sat at the park.

I went online(i won't state the website) intended to purchase a phone. So i clicked on computer and accessories, a list of various phone items displayed. And i saw a blackberry Zagg of N10000 and quickly ordered and paid for it(where on earth do you buy a new blackberry phone for N10000!) Guess what... When the package arrived, it was a blackberry Zagg screen protector, christ!

Going for an exam, i decided to jump and land on the wrong foot deliberately. Guess what... my pam cut and it was raining.

I decided to go play ps 2 in a classroom. Guess what... I have an exam in the next building, i didn't know of. I was in 200l at a university.
And so much more.

Yet, i wish myself more crazy experiences so that i can look back and laugh with myself even when i'm alone.
Religion / Re: What Nigerians Think Of People Who Do NOT Believe In God? by Zico0(m): 2:48pm On Nov 29, 2014
I like this thread and i'm glad that i get to share my opinion. I'm going to share an experience of a pastor. Note that this is not a fabrication, and i promise not to lie. It's very lenghty but it's interesting.

A pastor walks into my compound; i was doing my laundry. It's a sunday at 10am
Me: good morning
Pastor: morning
Me: do you want something?
Pastor: no
Pastor: are you a sport-person? I see you jogging some mornings
Me: no i do it for my health.
Pastor: so your not a sport-person.
Me: why are you asking if i'm a sport-person? Do you have a competition for me or are you trying to start a conversation?
Pastor: No. What church do you attend?
Me: my parents are celestians.
Pastor: i believe their service starts at 10am. Ok, so are you still going to church today?
Me: see! i just washed my garment.
Pastor: but you have another one na?
Me: i don't...
Pastor: why don't you want to go to church today?
Me: i don't want to talk, otherwise we'll start one big argument and i'm not ready. We'll need a pen and a book and place to seat and talk like educated people. You can see i'm washing, but you are prepared.
Me: i'd have said we pick one day when i'll come to your church and we can talk. But it's not important.
Pastor: why is not important?
Me: it dosen't lie in alignment with my interest.
Pastor: it dosen't lie in alignment with your interest?
Me: i'm an humanist. Do you know about humanism?
Pastor: no
Me: humanism is about solving your real problems as humans, and not offend whatever power is above us. What i'm trying to say is i will not put anything else before satisfying myself. I will not put christianity before my humanity.
Me: tell me one real thing you want.
(the pastor was going to talk about spiritual things), so
Me: do you know about Maslow heirachy of needs?
Pastor: yes (stuttering trying to list them, so i helped him)
Me: food, clothing and shelter; huuuh! security; relationship and so on.
Pastor: okaay!
Me: so do you have everything you want?
Pastor: yes
Me: you have everything you want!!!!!?
Pastor: no
Me: so what 're you doing about it?
Pastor: what am i doing about it. Eeeerm it's what i'm doing right now.
Me: it's what you're doing right now!!! Eeehn, it's what i'm doing right now too. So we are in correspondence; no wahala.
Pastor: but you have to know about...
Me: no, no, no; you have your method and i have my method. I will not let you impose your method on me.
Pastor: ok, i'm here to share a better method.
Me: ok! to know a better method, we'd have to compare circumstances, and then it'll be embarassing because i feel i'm a better person than you.
Pastor: it's what you believe; it dosen't mean it's true.
Me: we'd have to compare circumstances. First of all, your in my house. Why should you be in my house?
Pastor: because i have something you need.
Me: (getting upset by his gut) you have something i need!! Buyers don't chase sellers. I've to come to you for something i need. You come into my house and i decided listened to you. Don't you understand? You've given me the power.
Pastor: no i haven't given you the power. It's a privilege for you to listen to me.
Me: (already very angry) eehn!! Ok, i don't want to listen to you again.
(he kept on saying saying some things i cannot remember because i was already upset at this point).
Me: i'll pour you this water o
Pastor: i think you need Jesus. (this was the statement that got me infuriated)
Me: (i paused for a while. He thought he got to me.) I think you need to leave.
(but he did'nt leave. He kept on talking. I felt insulted by this.)
Me. Tolu(my neighbor) com' tell this guy. (Tolu walking to us, the pastor stepped around, leaving)
Me:I need Jesus, you self need jesus. Idiot! Mothef**ker. You think your a better person? You think your better than me? Have you eaten this morning? Better go and look for something to eat.

I want everyone: christians, humanists, atheists, whomever you are, to analyse this experience
and share their opinion. But i'll say some things:
first, pastors, when a person asks you to stop talking or leave, you must obey. I felt infringed on, and i was going to hit the pastor, but i saw he'd feel victimized for Jesus and i din't want to give him that feeling; as he was ready for me to strike him and i'd taken him down flat. I'll say the rest later.

AgapeCharis:
For the Guys...

10 THINGS YOU LL REALISE ONCE YOU DECIDE TO SETTLE
DOWN

1). #500 na money

2). Swags, looks and Americana accents don't pay bills. No more need to pretend you have money when you don't. You Have To Have It !!!

3). Love is not all and only thing to consider in choosing a wife, contrary to what we thought.

4). In life, what matters is WHO KNOWS YOU and not, WHOM YOU KNOW.

5). Nothing compares to saving good money in the bank.

6). A lady's beauty is in her brains.

7). Relax!... Having Sex would finally be a 'job' that you ll one day be running away from.

cool. Girls are plenty but wife is scarce.

9). Acting to impress a girlfriend is as useless as the 'ueue' in 'Queue'.

10). That you need God like never before.

I don't like this post and because i feel since we don't say the truth it'll be a social problem. The Nigerian society is upside down and i feel it's because we hide the truth of reality.

First, because you pray, go to church and believe in God dosen't make you the better person. The better person is that one who make things work. If you have 'americana' accent and it's real, why don't you strive for Hollywood. For example, there's aisha tyler, estelle, oshinua whatever and one other black guy in Lost, there are two black dudes in 24hrs S07 etc. Does anyone think it's impossible? Hmmn! Planes fly, don't they?

Second, In life, what matters is what good you bring. Are you a asset or liability?, ultimately, it boils down to who's hungrier; ultimately, it boils down to science: knowledge, skill and information; ultimately, meritocracy apportions opportunities: if an executive will only outsource contracts based on friendship, then he does so at his own peril.

#500 no be money! Nigerians will go into an endeavour without careful consideration of the estimates. It's past time we became civilised. In every endeavour there's a standard and if you cannot make the standard, that activity is not for you. That's why we like to beg; abeg abeg abeg. The value is not the money, the value is the good or service. What's that thing your good at or can assist others through?, you have to make it useful to another person. Adam Smith said "...man has almost constant occasion for the help of his brethen, and it is in vain to expect it from there benevolence only. He will be more likely to prevail if he can interest ther self love in his favour, and shew them that it is for their own advantage to do for him what he requires of them... Nobody but a beggar chooses to depend chiefly upon the benevolence of his fellow-citizen..."

I would say schools located in Ikoyi, Victoria Island and perhaps Lekki. However, you could Google Mitech Schools and Chrisland schools located at Ikeja... The reason is because they will expose you to modern teaching methods, either British or American Curriculum which would give you an edge after school.
wow! That's some standard you've had me exposed to. I like it, but getting accepted there is not going to be easy.
Did you take a T.P exercise by any of those schools before?

I have a teaching practice coming up in february. The duration is 6 weeks. I'll probably take a secondary class. Please, i need all the advice good people can offer.
I still don't know what school to undertake the T.P exercise and if you can point me to a good one, perhaps; by chance, it'll be very much helpful to me, and it dosen't matter any location. Anyone please!

I don't think electricity is a problem in Nigeria. A litre of fuel sells for N100, approx. 65 cents.
Oil is one of the dearest commodities in the world, but here we get fuel for sixth-tenth of a dollar! What else does a person want?
We want power running 24/7 but we cannot manufacture even a generator set. Where will the power come from? Heaven?

Why is internet service much more expensive than oil? huh!

It occurs to me as this: a civilisation that has reached its climax and, in the strife, burst into another dimension, starting a new entity of people in their most basic nature and that will advance onto that same civilisation of super creatures like their originators. The strife of the originators is continued in the new world by the humans. The storm is brewing as the forces collide in this new world, and this will ultimately lead to the same bang as the originators'. But i wonder what will be the outcome of the humans. Will they fall onto another dimension and continue the strife? Or will they wipe out their entire race or the entire force of life, including their originators?

However, where is the portal between the spiritual and the physical world?

Education / Re: How Can Tertiary Students Benefit From The TETFUND by Zico0(m): 9:44am On Nov 04, 2014
So far, i have realised that students don't understand they are an entity. Think of all the financial investment that parents have made on this brand; student. There is value in our collective studenship. The value that we have is being an entity; a body. But we cannot reap the benefits of studentship unless we organise ourselves. We have to recognise our presence, first; then know our rights and privileges; last, understand our responsibilities and the roles we have to play in society.

There is no value outside, in society. If we are going out of school, it is up to us to create opportunities. Students have a notion, that is: they think there is jobs outside waiting. There is no such thing, and, in the end, a fraction of graduates set up internet cafe service, another small fraction start a tutorial service, another fraction open some business, and the least intelligent ones settle for a retail store. In addition, even in those, these graduates cannot understand the value of their individual brands. There is value in studentship, citizenship etc., and their benefits is enough to cater for a people's daily needs. Nobody just drops from the sky. Everybody belongs somewhere. Now a brand have to realise their objective, responsibilities and good; and manage that service(s) for their subsistence.

Everyday we scream change, but one person alone cannot start a revolution. We have to begin to realise our social services, align our interests, and, thereby, form an entity. We have to act as a brand, an official social entity, with some social value, structure, and office. And we begin to influence state matters and we will see what government that can take us for granted. They might kill a man but they cannot kill an entity, a company, a body, etc.

Now, with the above, i think a person should get on the same page with me. That understanding should get a person to where i'm at.
Studentship: i want to work on this as a student. And there are questions:
what are the social duties and responsibilities of the student?

What are the social services of the student? Note that the student is not a person, it is a body, a social unit; and this unit is part of the Nigerian society-- whether students realise it or not-- and therefore it has responsibilities, it provides some services, and these make up value; all the value that we need for subsistence. Now we have to recognise this brand, give it a presence, structure;complexity and manpower; us, so that it will function.

In simple english, i'm trying to translate being a student as work. We make our livelihood from the value that we possess; social services that we render. It is not insanity and i'll need plenty of help.

Finally, there is no value in the world; it's in you.

What are the responsibilities and the
goods of the student?

Role of students in society
SEPTEMBER 20, 2012 BY
PAKISTAN TODAY

Society is a group of people who
commonly share values, requirements
and interests. Student is an important
pillar in building and educated society as
education is the basis for living in a
world community as trade, industry,
economic or political.
For the prosperity and betterment of a
society, the foremost role of student is to
gather knowledge and wisdom and
must not waste his/her precious time
carelessly. He must submit himself to the
rules of discipline to build a civilized
society. They must realize their roles and
duties towards a cultured society. They
must develop habits of self-reliance and
try not to use unfair means in every
aspect. A student can understand and
help common people to understand their
rights. He is expected to be well
informed as well as balanced in his
views. He must know that he is prepared
to offer his co-operation and services for
the well being of the society. As he is
conscious of right and wrong, good and
bad; he will not follow another man
dictates blindly. Student must contribute
himself for improvement, judge and act
for a civilized society. They may stand for
the strength of will, truthfulness, high
sense of duty and honor, spirit of service
and sacrifice. A student must know his
talent and utilize it in a right manner.
Material consideration and getting fame
should not move him from the right
path.
Education / Re: How Can Tertiary Students Benefit From The TETFUND by Zico0(m): 5:44pm On Oct 27, 2014
I was thinking is there a way students can
constitute or be responsible for a
standard, such as the school fund us to
manage that good or service?
In the worst case scenario, a good could
be Goodwill; the school's reputation. An
arrangement whereby students are
funded not to misbehave...basically they'll
allocate and apportion us a fraction of the
tetfund they recieve so we come to class,
recieve lectures, and go home to study in
peace; so that education can continue.

Beforehand, i have some questions and i want us to answer these questions as students; as a body: the student; which are:

What will happen if the student refuse to go to school? One thing for certain is education will not continue.

The next question, therefore, is what are the consequences if education were to cease? A country that cannot deliver education. What kind of country cannot provide education?

Ultimately, we smear the reputation of the state.

I know these all sound overboard but with the state of things at present, as we lose order in the country; the system of checks and balance has failed. A public office does as it desires.
So i say we take it to the head as the student, not of any university; the student.

What are the responsibilities and the goods of the student? We have to hoard that good for our subsistence.

What are the responsibilities of the school in regards to the student? What isn't the school doing: we strike from there.

Most important, what are the responsibilities of the state in respect of the school and the student. That's our source of revenue.

What is the Nigerian law that regulates the school and the student and their single relationship with the state?

Where is the student? Come on!! Answer these questions with me. I can't do it all, right, my own.

I'm going to need persons with knowledge on forming associations in accordance with the provisions of the Nigerian constitution. I, myself own a copy of the constitution.

I know you all can see this thread. It's going to be around for a long time. It might seem like a joke but everything begins as such.
I'm going to need a great deal of assistance from a lot of brilliant and intelligent students.
The aim is to come about a stable source of revenue from state. I don't intend to be one of those people that just go through school yet, outside school, they can't effect change or cause a positive impact on society. I know you see this thread and i know it's better than pretending to earn a living from scamming on facebook; as yahoo boys, being chased about by SARS and the Police.

I'm going to need people who know what they teach them, who didn't cram knowledge. Lawd! Battery low!

This TETFUND thing is hard to crack. Looking at the fifth provision it says "Any other need
which, in the opinion
of the Board of
Trustees, is critical
and essential for the
improvement of
quality and
maintenance of
standards in the
higher educational
institutions."

I was thinking is there a way students can constitute or be responsible for a standard, such as the school fund us to manage that good or service.
In the worst case scenario, a good could be Goodwill; the school's reputation. An arrangement whereby students are funded not to misbehave. I know it sounds ridiculous in simple words and, therefore and of course, we would have to add complexity; in terms of legality, authority and formality. But basically they'll allocate and apportion us a fraction of the tetfund they recieve so we come to class, recieve lectures, and go home to study in peace; so that education can continue.
Think of it. I'll come back and embellish this point further, so that it sounds really meaningful because i believe there is sense in this.

@ dayosaurus, abeey2sam and one other person i can't remember; for the last time.

Brilliance and intelligence.
Brilliance is knowing that 20+20=40. Intelligence is knowing how to convert N20 to N40.

Brilliance is measured by As, degrees, 500% at ICAN, 4.9 in CGPA, and whatever irrelevant statistics you all have. Intelligence is measured by circumstances: MBA over B.Sc, B.Sc over Hnd, the rich over the poor, SUV over Ferrari, firstworld societies over thirdworld societies etc.

Brilliance is only acquired in school. Intelligence transcends Education. Many Nigerian students are very brilliant. They know all of physics, chemistry and biology and what not, but that's all. The sinple truth is: if i'm so intelligent, how come i don't have a degree from Havard, or Yale, Cambridge? Now somebody is telling about Hnd. You've got to be kidding me! And another is giving me flimsy excuses of conditions. If you don't have the standard don't talk to me. The world dosen't care. It's only interested in how you can provide solutions and make things work in the face of unhealthy conditions.

Education / How Can Tertiary Students Benefit From The TETFUND by Zico0(m): 3:48pm On Oct 25, 2014
"Tertiary Education Trust
Fund (TETFund) was
established as an intervention
agency under the TETFund ACT
- Tertiary Education Trust Fund
(Establishment, etc) Act, 2011;
charged with the
responsibility for managing,
disbursing and monitoring the
education tax to public tertiary
institutions in Nigeria."

These moneys, as education tax, are disburse to public tertiary institutions at present. So how can students benefit from the fund their school recieves. Without students public tertiary institutions are not eligible to such a fund. So students have a stake in this.

As students, we have to develop a system whereby we have access to stable revenues from the state. Whether we realise it or not we are a brand, as students, and we play a key role in society. This is enough value for a source of revenue. Or is there such a fund that we have access to that i'm not aware? Somebody enlighten me i beg. And i'm not talking about annual bursaries from corporate bodies by way of schorlarships. Anyone?
It is for our collective good.

Students are the future cognoscenti, schorlars and academicians; we shouldn't have to stay in hunger, and if we want to attain our full potential.
Students need to start to apply knowledge. We have to identify loop holes in the education system and exploit them for our sake. We have to open our eyes in one voice and develop an industry for us. I'm going to look into this tetfund some more to see what i can come up with. If you have a better idea, please share

Ucheosefoh:
You have a point but beyond the four walls of the school is another world that goes beyond certificate to succeed, did you know many people are being frustrated by admission every year and you expect the person to keep on waiting for university admission. The competition is much and not everybody have the time and resources to compete, have you forgotten the nigerian factor in admission process. You attended polytechnic which means you are not intelligent by attending polytechnic first before you upgrade your school and IQ
Note: I judge you base on your comment
On a very light note and sorry if sound mean. I don't want to say much; i have a badmouth sometimes.
A person who struggles to gain admission for years is not intelligent. A person who attends a polytechnic is not bad he is just not good enough.
Since your talking about me: then, i don't know if i was a brilliant kid but when i couldn't gain admission my first year, i knew i had to attend a university no matter what, i enroled at a poly. and two years later i left. I never wrote any exam twice. Now is that intelligence or what?
A person is not a fool to fall, a person is a fool to remain on the ground.
If you don't have a B.sc, to Nigeria, why did you go to school?

My experience was with some woman, an administrative staff in the school. At one point i thought she was dissing me cause she knew i know she wasn't my type.

Ok I go into her office to submit a file, she opened the file, and she screamed at me: don't i know i was supposed to come with the original copies. I collected my file and left her office. I didn't feel bad and i knew was to blame. I didn't have those original copies on me which meant i had to return the next day.

Second day, i walked into her office; she said you with the umbrella again: I had an umbrella in my pocket the last time. She asked why i had to return and i answered i didn't have the original copies of my docs. I gave her my file, she scanned through my documents back and forth twice and said three documents are missing. Today i didn't even know where to get those documents which meant i had to return the next day, again.

Third day, as a sharp guy i had manage to get those 3 docs she requested for. Today she already knew my face. She asked why i had to return and replied. I gave her my file, she scanned back and forth, again and again, as if to find an inadequacy. She didn't find any , so she closed the file i was going to breathe a sigh of relief when she asked don't i know i was supposed to attach a photocopy of one particular doc. on the front cover of my file to ease categorization. I was like what the...!!! I was going to say "you said i didn't need photocopies" when she shouted at me to leave. I just stood staring at her. She had a female visitor who gestured for me to leave. She reacted, saying in yoruba, "leave him, let him be staring at me". I had to return the next day.

Fourth day, i went very early to her office. When we met, she said to come back later in the day; she didn't have time to attend to me, she was very busy. 2 hours later i returned, gave her my file, she scanned back and forth and threw the file at me. She said the documents are not in order. I went outside her office and rearrange my documents. I was going in when i realised i forgot to insert two other documents. I had to unloose the whole thing(the file was perforated) to insert those two documents in order. I went in, she scanned my documents back and forth, she hissed and accepted my file. I told her she was a nice person and she said 9ice ko 2face ni. Then i left.

Education / Re: 10 Reasons Why A Polytechnic Graduate Can Never Equate To A University Graduate. by Zico0(m): 12:29pm On Oct 25, 2014
Let's not fool anyone, the OP is right. No young student ever plans to attend a polytechnic in Nigeria. There is a scramble for university and so the two major criteria are brain or money, therefore, the less intelligent ones are shoved aside and shared between polys. and the NCE.
So if your in a polytechnic your not intelligent enough, although you might be very brilliant: Find wisdom.

My point: students in the university schooling are more intelligent that ones undertaking the polytechnic education in general.

A polytechnic is less structured, organised and funded than a university, as anything may go in a polytechnic. After all if your so intelligent why aren't you in a university.
Btw, i attended a polytechnic for two years before i upgraded.

Through childhood i learnt great things: better to go by unnoticed, wind your window up.
In the situation, keep your mouth shut, just maintain a fake smile and converse by your actions in relation to how the events play out.
In all, keep your mind open before they implicate you in something else worse.
