Virtually every Nigerian apart from the thieving political class and their corrupt business associates, agree that there is a problem with our leadership and we need a change.
Everyday Nigerians weep, complain and discuss the leadership incompetence, public corruption, open selection of thieves instead of election of prudent, competent candidates, wanton rape of the nation by a handful of people( I am not sure the evil rulers of this nation and their associates are more than 10,000 in a country of some 150 million people, including some 93 million of voting age), unconstitutional impeachments, etc  but yet NOBODY DOES ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

I am still pondering this: Why we accept the evil that befalls us as a nation from our politicians.
Why do we watch helplessly as the politicians, governors, local government chairmen, godfathers, etc, steal our money and leave nothing behind and we wring our hands and cry and DO NOTHING  BUT COMPLAIN.

Are we scared of the guns their thugs carry ? and why do those young men agree to be thugs for them ?

Are we scared of the police, SSS, military ? These people complain as well. I have spoken with Military officers and mobile policemen, the ones we are scared of, and they also are not happy with way things are in the country.

Why do we watch as politicians select who to rule us even against our votes and we DO NOTHING instead we AGREE that our votes do not count

So why do we DO NOTHING ?

I don't have the answer but I am just seriously perplexed as to why a nation of an estimated 150 million people, alot of whom are highly educated, physically strong and globally exposed, can't resist less than a 100,000 people oppressing them.

Something, maybe spiritual, must be seriously wrong or we are just a bunch of weaklings who believe we can never win against the bourgeoise class so we are okay complaining while erking out a living. Or are we under mass hypnosis ?

But we must remember smaller nations like Lebanon and Hungary which only recently staged days of mass protest to force their respective Prime Ministers to resign.

In the case of Hungary, the protest was simply because he LIED about the state of the Economy. Imagine what they would have done if he had been indicted for election rigging or embezzlement.

Okay, so maybe the prime ministers have not yet resigned but in such countries with such mass protest, a political leader can't  just do what he likes and get away with it scot free. The leaders are kept on their toes and made accountable to the people.

Lebanon is even a country where guns are carried about publicly. That did not stop the people from mass protesting.

You are under the wrong impression that nothing is being done, by writing you are contributing and putting "them" under pressure to change, we don't have to be on the street to make our voice heard. keep writing you are making a change.

mind you most of them that keeps writing and putting pressure on the government to do something are considered inconsequential  wink

We don't do anything because we are totally powerless, just like we are in bondage. obasanjo can decide to continue for life the worse that can happen will be some people that don't have anything to do with it loose their lives, amala proffessors will speak all the grammar they can then everything return to normal
