Even though it would benefit my state(Port Harcourt) if it was possible. People shouting coastal highway have never been to the water front areas,

If you have ever been to Lagos and you know third mainland bridge. That's the kind of bridge you would need that will cut across the stretch of Delta State, Bayelsa and Port Harcourt talkless of Akwa Ibom.

These areas are creeks and mangroves sea.

For me what I understand it's going on here is that Chagoury man wants to use coastal highway tactics to claim Lagos water front. That's why his company started sand filling wether anyone like it or not.

The first picture below is Delta State area alone. To fund the high bridge that will cross these areas America, Chinese and Europeans will have to come together to fund it for us.

They celebrate structures like this outside the country but when our government embarks on structure that require high level technology they say it is impossible.
Small minded folks like OP never go far in Life.

They are coastal roads all over the world with even much worse terrains. It's possible in those countries but it's not possible in Nigeria.

OP is not a structural engineer, but he feels he knows better than the professionals with years of experience.

We won't stop moving forward as a nation because of small minded citizens like you sir.

Can you even imagine what you are saying?
The Gilbert is trying to use the road to take land... How does that even make sense. Do you folks think before talking at all?

Niger Delta is the goose that Lays Nigeria's Golden eggs and after 40years FG wants to do something Substantial for them by building them a Coastal Highway and you are now fighting against it

You no Shame?

Yet You saw Buhari building Railway for his People even to Niger using the Niger Delta's resources

Don't you know that at least Half of what was used to build Abuja was supposed to have gone to the Niger Delta as infrastructure for the sake of Fairness and non exploitation?

FG has Cheated Niger Delta so badly for decades to the extent that they don't even argue about it again they only give them fake promises to improve their behavior towards the Niger Delta and because of a Single Road you are here fighting

If truly they are sincere and they really want to build a coastal road, they should start from calabar, port Harcourt, Bayelsa, those are the impossible part. You want to build road on mangrove forest and creeks.

I will say it again, as SS person who strongly supported PO in the last election, PO and the Igbos need to drop this matter. There are many other things to attack the govt over. Tinubu has laid a trap for PO and the Igbos, and they are walking right into it. Support for PO is dropping fast across the SS. Come 2027 you can already see the attack line APC will deploy in the SS. 'The Igbos don't want the SS to develop....'. In politics you don't give you enemy amunition.

Igbos have been always denied their identity whenever they want to make a bad remark they usually hide under the south south people to carryout their evil habits. Like this op claiming port Harcourt. He forgot that average Niger delta will rather channel their energy on something that will more productive.

The useless being forget that the whole of lagos island even part of surulere and some part of ikoyi even the whole of Eko Atlantic and part of oworo were ocean and they sand filling it to be habitable for people.

The project that have been in place for over 30 years no administration's ever talk about it and each administration stolen trillion of naira even if not dollars self? If those money stolen by this individual can be channel to this project would the project will still be there?
Some of you are just criticizing without constructive even including your boss peter obi but you guys from that region really get empty brain spits on your head bro.
When the flooding will start, you will not be there to help us. The project itself is a good one, but one must take cognizance of the environmental dangers, the financial burden on the nation, and other alternatives that can be employed.
I am from Bayelsa state. Even though the project is promising, I won't be bambozled to accept something that is not thoroughly analysed and planned.

Tinubu will build only Lagos side, then promise SS that he will complete it if they vote him in 2027, since his Northern Masters have started forsaken him..

The unrealistic project is all about siphoning of public fund and 2027 election plans

The building of Warri Section has Started and the Calabar Section will Start in July

It Still doesn't Stop Lagos from being Yorubaland
It is not about Money or Investments
It is about our God Given Heritage
Same as the Dangote Refinery investment didn't turn Lagos into Hausaland
It is not about Money it is about ancient Heritage
We have More Stake than You because Yorubaland is our only Homeland for our Ancestors, Us and our descendants

That was why when people fled to the East during Oso Abiola , Yorubas had to stay put because they were already in their Homeland and had nowhere else to flee to

Last week, SS Governors thanked Tinubu for this road. You need to have read the insults that Obidients poured on the entire South South people.

Hope you notice that Edwin Clark, Wike, Fubara, Asari, Akpabio, Annkio Briggs, etc are all quiet. All South South people across party lines are watching the Obidients and Peter Obi display their ill thoughts towards the Niger Delta.

This silence has deep meanings.

Before Peter Obi ever criticised that road, I did first. My argument was that those trillions of naira (they said the FG will pay 50% of 15 trillion which is about 7.5 trillion) should be invested in agriculture and power. Prices of foodstuff are becoming alarming and a country of 200 million people doesn't distribute up to 5000 megawatts of power; almost the whole economy runs on generators.

However, APC members and their foot soldiers are now deploying tribal politics to the whole argument that this road isn't a priority. So, I want to appeal to my Igbo brothers to halt all arguments concerning this road because they are now inciting the South South people against us.

This is the only thing APC knows how to do best - divide and rule. It has worked so well in Lagos guber elections and they have brought it to national politics. Unfortunately, they keep taking Nigeria backwards because facts and figures don't lie.
what if this dump Tinubu man put that money on refinaries and make fuel easy for us in this country. We for praise him. Why are Nigerian leaders like this for God's sake. They will deliberately put people in pain, we all know the project will be abandoned last last after wasted alots of money and steal 80% of it.

Blame your incompetent governors and compromised local Chiefs. All Niger Delta states receive oil derivation funds apart from the monthly Allocation from the FG.
What have they done so far with it?.

Ogun state doesn't receive 60 % of what Delta gets. Yet, its the manufacturing hub of the country.
When are you going to hold the leaders of the Niger Delta responsible for the gross neglect of its own people.

The whole of VI was once a swamp

Where the Dangote Refinery is located was once a swampy area

Construction work for the Lagos calabar road is ongoing at Eleko, where the road will pass through at Eleko is a swampy area, go there and check how it's been built up

Swampy area is not a big deal
Also check out that swamp under the bridge from ojota to maryland how those engineers sandfilled the whole swamp and made it very beautiful...

Third mainland bridge is like a dot compared to the bridge that you would need to cut across these areas. And I can assure you that federal government know it's impossible.

Chagoury is the one funding this whole madness. And we have Nigerian politicians that would destroy their citizens homes and livelihoods for a foreigner to benefit

My sentiments too!

Chagoury and Tinubu are using their control of the federal gov't to claim coastal areas in Lagos for their selfish and PRIVATE business interests! Let's see how they will build coastal highway across the length of the Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa delta swamps!

I never wan answer this op now. Why you dey think the coastal highway nor fit work, na people like una dey go against the development of this country yet una go dey blame govt.
The simplest reason why it will never work is that in 5yrs time, if the Naira continues to lose 50% of value every year for the next 5yrs, cost overruns will render this project impossible to complete. Then Nigeria will be indebted to Chagoury forever. This means that we will be forced to concede our most profitable oil fields to the Chagourys.
This is debt trap that might eventually enslave coming generation Nigerians to the Chagoury clan.
