There are many advanced countries in the world who can't speak English infact lionell messi can't speak English and Ronalo is not even fluent with English averagec Nigerians believe if you can't speak English you are olodo. |

It is because an average Nigeria dont check their Dictionaries. They get meanings of words from what majority are saying. Anybody that calls someone illiterate because that fellow cant speak; it means the former is qualified illiterate.... 1 Like |

Skooltynz:Because English is the language used in our educational system. There are no secondary schools or Universities where they teach in our local language. So if can't speak English in 9ja it means you didn't go to school, Unless u are claiming that you wrote JAMB,WAEC and university exams in your local language. 3 Likes |

Illiteracy doesn't really mean the person can't speak English, have you not seen an educated illiterate with PhD? The ability for you not to be able to construct a good coherent reasoning make someone an illiterate. |
