i know someone who married a guy she'd never met until 2 weeks before the wedding day grin grin at least he didn't lie about his source of income. but he's a wife basher. and yes, she's the greedy type.

i have been asked out by a couple of guys i met in naija who later janded (funny they all seemed to ask just as they were about to fly out). but i either tell them no, or break it up. i means to says, how was it supposed to work anyway?

'hello darling. wish i could give u a hug/hold you right now'

'oh baby, wish you were around so we can see a movie'

'honey, i'm so depressed, your smile would have brightened my day'

'sigh', 'sigh'

'yada' 'yada'

abegi!!

how much less, someone i've never met, or someone who practically drops out of the 'american' skies to declare love for me. na wa for dollar o!
that dollar go catch fire.

any sharp nkemji must know surely that a bird in hand is worth two in the bush (= stick to the man u can SEE and know him inside out, rather than some foreign bird who was prbably the pariah of his community)

whew!! did i make sense?

Good to know we have girls in Nigeria who have respect for themselves.
God bless you my sister.
Most of those men coming home looking for "wives" are just looking for girls to sleep with over the Christmas period.
Some of them have 400 pound wives and several  children here in America.
Many girls have found out the bitter truth on arrival, that Okonkwo has to pay child support for 3 kids and has no income left over after all that.
I'm just a whistle blower warning my sisters to beware. cool

Nwando you're really taking this whole thing to a diff level. Its not good to lie to someone you plan to spend your whole life with but still people will tell lies both MEN and WOMEN, both HOME and ABROAD regardless of what the whole world say! pls stop painting this story like every single guy that went home to marry has something to hide. People travel from all cities in naija to their villages to get marry and no matter what you say here, naija girls will still believe those stories from away guys! girls believe lies from the guy next door not to talk of thousand miles away.

As for the getting yash, some married people get laid when they go home not to talk of single guys! marriage or no marriage. Some girls back home are just something else and it too bad this yankee guys are taking advantage of that. Whenever I visit home, our house turns to girls hostel. My sisters friends roll in and out like no business and if I decide to f**k every single one of them, I can do it whether I tell truth or lies same with alot of guys in naija.

Its OK if you encourage single guys/girls abroad to marry eachother rather than making it seem like the guys here are evil and if they decide to go home, na their business be that!

Prince, those guys abroad lie too much. I understand where you're comin from but seriously until one jams them face to face abroad you never know what them boys are into.

It happens everyday. We hear stories everyday.

I remember one guy that came back from Holland and immediately found this girl and they got married within 3 weeks shocked Na so? Now, imagine the kind of lies this dude musta pumped into the girls ears. I blame the girl but don't u guys reason at all? How can u marry someone u don't know?

To cut it short. The guy went back after their trad marriage and till date the girl hasn't seen this dude. (I'm talking about 2000-2008)I didn't hear this story. I'm a witness 'cause the girl is my cousin's friend.

I know a similar case.
I attended the traditional wedding with my parents in the late 80's and the guy never came home again.
She remarried later in the 90's thank God.

@Nwando:
Now its begining to be real obvious that you have some real issues with guys abroad. I've been following this thread and its like everytime someone say something negative about guys in UK, US, Europe, or anywhere else outside nigeria, you'll eirther claim to know a semilar case, witnessed something close, or know someone that it happend to! Haven't you heard of people that never saw eachother till some weeks or even days before they got married that live in peace?, don't you know anyone that went home and got married and are living in peace?, haven't you heard of guys that left their wife, children, and family back in africa and are stranded somewhere in abroad for green card or some kind of resident permit all in the name of taking care of his family? must every guy abroad be bad as far as you're concerned? na wa oh! I'm yet to figure you out on this topic.

@Radiant: so guys in africa don't lie? before I forget is it only guys that tell lies both home and abroad?
You know someone that found and married a girl in 3weeks so for that he must have told tons of lies? GSSSSSSS! you guys need to listen to yourself sometimes. Since when have lies turn to a MALE ONLY thing? Are you also saying you've never ever lied to a guy before? comeon lets cut all this pointing fingers out!
If you go to MMA (Airport) and post a sign that ALL GUY coming frome abroad are Decievers and tell lies, that won't stop them from marrying back home if they want! that won't stop the girls from believing their stories.
Come to think of it, how many girls in naija will believe you wash plates in America? and even if they do, will that stop guys from marrying them?

I'm not defending anybody but life abroad is not what we all thought it was while in Nigeria. Some of this missing in action guys you're talking about might be in jail for some crime mostly drugs or even dead in europe and your'e here talking about a girl in naija that's still alive!
When my cousin left for Europe through Turkey trying to find his way into Greece, Italy, or holland, no one heard from him for almost 4yrs. His wife concluded that he's married to a white woman and left her with 4kids alone. Some people said he might even be dead! but thank God after going through the hell trying to find the so called bluewer pasture he came home to tell his stories. From being jobless, to homeless, to jail for trying to cross the border and ofcox didn't want to call nigeria so that they wont know he's from there and deport him! all in the name of living abroad.

So sisters we all know you guys feel bad morethan most guys in a broken relationship but that still don't mean every guy abroad is bad! I even know some girls here that said they'll never ever date a naija guy here cux he'll end of going home to find a wife! isn't that just stupid?
Re: Warning To Nigerian Girls by ifyalways(f): 7:16pm On Mar 11, 2008
. . .once again,Prince,very well said.
some issues undecided a good guy/girl remains good, location notwithstanding and vice versa.
Re: Warning To Nigerian Girls by Radiant(f): 9:18pm On Mar 11, 2008
Prince, get over yourself abeg! What's all this? Who ever mentioned ALL guys abroad lie?

Who said nobody should marry someone who lives abraod? We're just saying that girls need to be careful because all that glitters . . . .

You can get upset but guys abroad lie to a fault. Girls too lie but my dear nothing compared to what you guys vomit when you go back home.

All we're saying is DON'T lie to a woman you want to marry and ladies DON'T believe everything a guy tells you.

Geddit now?
Re: Warning To Nigerian Girls by princeonx: 10:12pm On Mar 11, 2008
OK? and all that will go/stop after you run your mouth here? and who said only girls need to becarefull when getting marry? go get a life abeg and stop hating!
Look who is advising others! you sound dumb enough to believe anything yourself!
Re: Warning To Nigerian Girls by romeo(m): 10:17pm On Mar 11, 2008
I am still of the opinion that this thread is deceitful!!
Boys lie to ladies they only want to lay and ladies lie to men they want to lay, but when it's about marriage the people i know here do not lie about their status

My friend and i were home December 2006 and he met this pretty young girl from their state he wanted to marry, the girl came all the way from Jos to meet us in Enugu for the weekend and my friend wanted to appear as a simple guy and not a braggart as we are being painted here, we decided to leave our SUVs to look normal. He came with a Peugeot 406 and i came with a Mitsubishi L300 bus i brought home grin grin

The reason was because she was going to be told that he works as a dish washer grin grin grin, yeahh she was told and she never took my friends calls after that weekend till date cheesy. That was the best thing that happend to my friend, because he was actually making plans for the girl but the girl happened to be a gold digger that missed a profitable gold mine.

If he had wanted to show off like the thread suggests, we could've swept her off the ground with a convoy of SUVs and enough money to throw around but the guy wanted to look plain and so do all my friends when it's all about marriage

If na party time we can oppress embarassed embarassed

Nwando,
Its often said ignorance is bliss and before the law ignorance is no defence and finally the book of books says my people die for lack of knowledge.

The socail standing of a job standing is not commensurate with the renumeration believe, this is mostly true in Europe and  North America etc, etc. For instance one of the lowest paid jobs in Nigeria, would be bricklayer ,agbekpo(feaces carrier) and labourer.  In the UK a sharp bricklayer/ plasterer can make up to £1500 a week or more, a building labourer depending on the area  up to and above £500 and someone working drains £350-600. Compare that to a forensic scientist in a govt lab with his Bsc, £300 or above new teachers £350, etc., even newly qualified accountants are on the same level. Doctors just qualified £650 approx in the NHS a week not including back breaking overtime.

Now if you are ignorant its your own fault and carried away by the lure of some Eldorado's there's internet acces all over the place do some research update youre knowledge. |However, it works both ways how many men and women have been deceived and are being decieved by our own people as we speak. I know of a friend who literally married a prostitute, this is always the case when you are led by your flesh and not the spirit of God.

If you be God pikin then no problem thats the solution i rest  grin grin grin
Re: Warning To Nigerian Girls by princeonx: 11:10pm On Mar 11, 2008
@ Radiant: I know exactly what you mean! I won't marry a girl I don't know too but the truth is just because me and you believe we can't do that, does not mean anyone that does that had/have some hidden agenda.
Most of this guys that marry girls they've known for only 2 or 3 weeks are actually marrying them because of their family background. Oh she's from a good family, her father is a knight, her mother is a member of Christian mother and so on but the truth is that those qualities in her family does not make her a good girl! just the same as coming from abroad does not make all guys rich or doctors, or lies.

All I'm saying or rather expect you guys to say is that people should try to know more about who they want to marry both guys and girls, both home and abroad before jumping into it! better still that people should stop decieving other into marriage by making them believe they're what they're not!
If you or Nwando present what you both have been saying through out this thread as a base for a position in the public or society, they'll look at you like you're onesided which is exactly true.
Don't have anything agaist nobody! not mad about anything! but lets focus more on educating eachother rather painting the opposite black as if the other side is white!
I bet if some guys tell you the kind of lies they've heard from babes, you go shout!  PEACE NL.
