Nairaland is just an online forum where people use pseudonyms to post their opinion. On a particular thread created by a certain e rufai where he highlighted hypocrisy on the part of Mac, I made it clear that this religion section should be enough for all beliefs/disbelief, there is the need for a level playing ground! The Moslem sub section should be abolished! I knew it will come to this- where each belief will like to claim different subsections. Please let us use the nairaland religion section as a model, if we cannot co-exist with each other despite the fact that most of us do not know each other, how then do we curb religious intolerance that is on the verge of destroying our nation? Logicboy, this isn't in anyway derailing your thread, but I belief this is an issue that needs to be urgently addressed. Have you seen FxKings thread about atheists getting their own subsection? Its appalling! I am a devout Christian but I follow all your threads, I read almost all posts from Frosbel, Anony, Tbaba et al, you all make sense from your different angles and you all present to me an avenue to see the different perspective of life which is epic. Imagine that! When maclatunji bans someone needlessly in the islam section, it might be annoying at first but one is consoled knowing that maclatunji is a product of a jihadist brainwashing. However, in this atheist section, there would be something worse than banishment/banning; a continuous, coordinated sledgehammer bashing of ones religious beliefs. I know the pain of seeing what you hold sacred ridiculed and debunked. It is like hellfire and ten times worse than being banned. The criticism of your religion stings like stab of a devils heated pitchfork; christians will always have it at the back of their mind that they are considered foolish slaves of a tyrant god every single time they visit that section.

On the one hand it can serve as a repository, as you say, for atheist viewpoints readily accessible to questioning visitors, on the other hand it could become a bit of a circlejerk. It should be made clear that non-atheists are welcome to post, debate, and criticise, unlike the "Islam for Muslims" section.

Face it... the BIGGEST opponents of a separate section for atheists is ATHEISTS themselves and not christians!

1. Atheists KNOW that the only reason they get together is to bash christians... a section for atheists only will have no traffic since there are no christians actively posting their to insult.

2. Atheists, even here, agree on only one thing - they hate christianity. Ask them to debate their scientific leanings and they all devolve into incoherent babble.

Be honest... if you thought all those lists you put up were very strong, you would be actively pushing for an atheist section. Why are you afraid of getting your own section? Fear that you would all be rendered irrelevant?
