I only have one Ride and that is my Range Rover Sports since 2011. It is like my ATM card, anywhere I want to go, it follows me or we go together.
I like that.

Great job you doing here, keep it up.

Supercharged Range Rovers are in a world of its own. When you drive a supercharged, driving a HSE is like being in a nightmare. But driving a supercharged entails a lot of responsibility and either you take it up or you let guys like me smile always to the bank(s.) That is why if you are not the type that derives pleasure in cruising at 180 kms per hour, please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you are used to. Choose a HSE. 2006- 2009 models are all the same.

Tnx for your response.

The SUV will actually be a Sunday- Sunday tonic or occasional traveling(and I am a good cruiser when it calls for that) If you understand :-). I actually have other vehicles I use as daily commute.

What are the things that will make me send you smiling to the bank if I decide to settle for the supercharged??

You have already answered it, Sunday- Sunday Tonic. A 4.2 L for an occasional ride? It is not Pathfinder or QX56 that you want to buy o. Anyway, if you intend it to be an occasional ride, just fill up your tank whenever you abandon it and ensure that the battery is always charged.

My Mechanic drove me home once in his friends Supercharged RRS that's the most fun in 4 wheels I have ever had. The Rig doesn't have a red line on the tachometer when he puts his foots down it Revs to as much as 6000 to 7000 RPM so just imagine the Torque.

The RRS isn't a SUV that should be parked his friend has already kept 80k miles in less than 2 years. He services bi weekly cos he does 5k miles in 2 weeks my Mechanic says that's how a Range Rover should be driven.

Are those miles being racked up here in Nigeria?

My Brother, that is what I have been trying to tell TSAT. Cant use a Supercharged as a weekly ride. The RRS will start misbehaving and it takes guys like us to put him back to order.

Yes, 160 kms per hour on an HSE is normal and I have done that many times on the Lokoja Okene stretch of the highway. The Range Rover Sport changes to either the 5th or 6th gear at 140kms. Even last Sunday, I was cruising at 140kms on third Mainland Bridge in a Range Rover Vogue and that too is another story entirely. There was a time when I had a Mercedes E240 and was doing a normal 180kms per hour, restricted by my tyres when a Toyota Corolla 07, zoomed past me. I was shocked and angry and on another day, same speed, another Corolla did the same thing, I got to Abuja and when Issues came up with the car, I gave it out to someone and I entered Night Bus back to Lagos. Bottom line, you cant build a house in Banana Island and live in Sango Ota while your office is in VI.

@ Sooper, Sorry for the mix up am actually referring to the distance covered(80k miles in 2 years) and not speed
And are you saying both HSE and Supercharged models should be daily drivers to avoid issues? Thanks

Yes the guy has a phobia for flying so anywhere he goes the Range goes, He does Lagos to Abj like no mans business. He has a GL450 and C300 also but he stuck with the RRS he bought it with 18k miles and has over 90k and believe me he hasn't changed anything aside his regular bi weekly servicing the last time.

Yes, everyday movement. Even driving short distances with the RRs is not advisable. I am always having issues when I am leaving Lagos with the RRS. It is only when I get to Sagamu that the nozzles will open. A V8 is meant for daily usage. It is like those who will buy a mercedes and keep it at home for Sunday use only for them to travel to Europe and the cab that they will enter is the same Mercedes that they over cherish back home.

Re: Range Rover Sports Club by sooperrescue(m): 7:37pm On Sep 03, 2014
No problem with the Range. Only problem is to follow the specifications of the manufacturer which we are all guilty of.

Go for the LR4 but avoid the 2010 model. It is a 5l engine but no much difference with the LR3 except the dashboard and the exterior look. You nor need to change the account name to mine, just make me a co signatory to the account, that is all. On a more serious note, even in the US, the owners there are wary of the Dealers because they make more mistakes and the charges are high. You will spend money but not the high roof many owners are currently building with mechanics. If there are no issues with your bushings and air suspension, average cost of maintenance per year will not be more than 150k comprising of two oil changes, octane boosters, battery. Cest tout.

Bizibi: rrs is getting popular by everyday,i just hope it can make me love her and sell of the ml Mercedes

I remember a friend of mine bought an ML350 and he will always take it to Ikoyi Club where other guys with Acura MDX, Pathfinder and BMW were the happening guys. That was in 2009. Suddenly, the money bags felt threatened and rolled out their Armada, Range Rovers and G wagons. My guy felt undersized and oppressed to the extent that he no longer park his car in the Golf section but at the General car park where Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson and Rav 4 are holding court.. Where do you place yours? You dont need to love her first, you need to have her, caress her and when she is rubbing your back and your ego, then you fall in love and when you see your ML, you start wondering if you ever had that Jeep.

@Sooperrescue... are you saying that the LR3 is not a good buy? Is it really more expensive to maintain than the RRS?
I was thinking of buying the LR3 over the RRS because of the 7 seater capacity. If it not economical, maybe I would go for the MB GL450 which is also a 7 seater. What are your views?

LR3 is a good buy, a go anywhere ride. It is not as selective as RRS and so it is not expensive to maintain. It is like the younger sibling of the Sport HSE. and the parts are a little on the lower side compared to Vogue, RRS.

Everyone should please check the authentic Mobil 1 and compare it to the one sold in Nigeria. There are many oils that is being branded as 5w 30 and they are not synthetic. Notice the 2 dexos logo on the can, that is the symbol of high quality oil. A similar product is being sold in Nigeria and it is beautifully packaged. GE platinum 5 w 30, 2 dexos, gf 5, now available in Lagos.
