is every virus ebola?
Okay, what you're asking is "is every corruption stealing? Assuming "corruption" is "virus" and "stealing" is "ebola"?

Anyway, a form of virus is ebola, a form of beans is akara, that is why ebola is virus and akara is beans.
A form of corruption is stealing, that is why stealing is corruption.

stealing is a class of corruption. every corruption is not stealing.

following your analysis above, the relationship between stealing and corruption is that, they are both crimes.

Assume corruption is a universal set.
The subsets of this universal set are stealing, tribal bias in official appointments, not doing what you are paid to do, not following due process etc.

A subset of a universal set is equal to that universal set if and only if every element in the universal set is also in that subset and have same magnitude.

Stealing is a financial crime. Stealing is not the same as tribal bias or not following due process, yet they all belong to the same universal set (corruption).

Stealing is a partition or a class of corruption.
Stealing is a subset of corruption.
Corruption is a superset of stealing.

Hence stealing is not corruption.

Note:
Stealing is in corruption, but stealing is not corruption.Nigeria is in Africa, but Nigeria is not Africa.

You didn't make any sense. Nigeria is in Africa but Nigeria is not Africa? what about, all Nigerians are africans but not all Africans are Nigerians. ie, stealing is an act of corruption but not all acts of corruption i s stealing.

I don't quite agree with your line of reasoning. The question is not whether stealing is equal to corruption ( which you convincingly proved mathematically). It is whether stealing is corruption or not. Reading most of the comments on this topic, there seem to be a consensus that stealing is a subset of corruption. But whether this makes it corruption is where people differ. My own take on this matter is that if stealing is a subset of corruption, then stealing is corruption. For instance, a rabbit is subset or a family) of the animal kingdom, therefore a rabbit is an animal.

those who steal are called CRIMINALS and if they call stealing corruption then they are still call politicians, not the actual criminals best fit for them.

hope u understand my pignin-english!.

OK consider this. Your are a product of your father right? and you answer his surname which is your family name. let's assume your family name is 'Jonathan'. Now when people that know your family see you doing some impressive things outside and they want to commend you, they'll say "I know him, he is a Jonathan, greatness runs in their blood" you see, your fathers name has been used to describe you.

The fact that we have a clueless Oga @ the top does not make us Nigerians clueless and unintelligent. These words are never going stop hunting the clueless one who speaks arrogantly forgetting about tomorrow. All these posters please don't waste your precious time and data defending the man that will goof again at any slightest opportunity.

What is corruption?
What is stealing?
Do they have the same definition?

saying stealing is corruption and corruption is not stealing does not make sense, it's a contradiction.
That is why I said stealing is a class of corruption.

LateralMaths, what is wrong is wrong! President jonathan was trying to defend his government as been touted as corrupt..and that was were he flawed! And NOT that he was teaching us Use of English..

With you still coming up with this defence means that you didn't read the thread were some lawyers countered the president's opinion on corruption.

Corruption, as they defined it in legal terms means the use of public office to amass illegal wealth! And GEJ is trying to play down that fact..by calling it 'mere stealing'...which means that he doesn't regard stealing as been bad..

Everyone has at least one corrupt tendencies in him/her,and been negative, we tend to conceal it..and would be embarassed should anyone find out..why persons were disappointed with the presidents remark and constant defence of that statement is that..he lacked NO shame, for him to openly said such...
