Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in which they create, share or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks.
Points:
Passing of wrong information: Social media passes a lot of wrong information which is also known as fake news. The founder of social media was Andrew Weinreich, he created social media so that people can create, share or exchange information in virtual communities and networks but the people of the world have turned it into an app of spreading fake news. Social media spreads our news which are not real and make them unique which causes chaos among people in the society. E.g a news which says there's a war between the Northern and Western part of Nigeria, in which there is no war, this is not just what social media has caused to Nigeria but to all parts of the world
Immoral dressings: social media makes young people dress wrongly. Young girls are affected the most, why do I say so? Social media affects girls dressings more than boys because on social media the most immoral things they post are mostly about girls. People who are for the good things of social media might say charity begins at home. I do agree that charity begins from home but those young children who have access to gadgets but no adequate parental care learn such stuffs from social media because what their eyes see on the media is what they are clearly going to copy. No matter what you say about charity begins at home that doesn't change what social media has done to those who use gadgets. Back on what I was saying about the way social media affects girls dressings more than boys e.g like wearing of bikinis outside where you reside or where you live is an example of immoral dressings.
Cyber bullying: is an act done on social media in order to harass or defame any person. People who suffer cyber bullying are facing social, academic and mental issues all because of social media. I am not trying to say social media is a bad app but an app that influences people to do some certain wrong things which are created by some certain people who are not helping the society develop well.
Western values: as I said earlier social media was created by a man named Andrew Weinreich. He is from the western part of the world. He created it for good reasons bit the people of today have turned it into an app of immoral things. We the Africans have accepted Western values into our continent, it is really not a bad thing but not all thing a White man does must the Black nan do. I really am not a fan of culture but it is important for us to know our past so that we can make the future generations know about our past.
Addition to social media: social media is an app used worldwide and many young people of the world have gotten addicted to it which makes them have eye defect, lack of focus. Social media does both good and harm worldwide but the disadvantages are more than the advantages.
I hope I have been able to convince you or not convince you that social media does more harm than good.
