The problem is, Nigerians don't believe that elections are free and fair, unless their side wins.

That is why the judiciary is being called all sorts of names in the name of democracy.

The truth is, there are issues with the judiciary. Yet when the losing side was in power, they did nothing to correct them, because as far as they are concerned back then, they won, nothing was wrong. Same thing the winning side is doing now...when they were losing, the judiciary was a mess, now they win, the judiciary works fine.

But the fact is, Nigerians want to be winners, not losers. Losing means you miss out on the national cake, especially since we don't even have a working welfare net that can help most people. Many Nigerians live on the largesse of politicians (as seen in the infamous photo of the bullion vans entering our now President's private residence some years ago....note the crowd outside). That is why winning is so important, and why if you lose, it must have been the other side who cheated.
