I have nothing against those that can't afford good buildings, just needed to state this as a disclaimer.

However, why does it seem like Lagos mostly demolishes only beautiful edifices?

There are a lot of slums in Lagos, with seemingly decaying houses, but they never seem to be under threat of demolition.

Minus the makeshift market kiosks that get demolished every once in a while, few badly looking buildings ever get demolished.

Just makes me wonder sha

Difference is in the owners and taste..

People and class..

Owners of the word .. Gbajue.. and people being called..

Nothing new.. is normal in that region

They don’t call land grabbers for nothing.. they hate it

Tribalist and bigots will always see igbo giants in their dream and igbos as nightmares

The Ibadan igbos left under awolowo is a shanti today .. nothing fit upgrade am

Lagos commissioner has called Yoruba miscreants and is deporting them.. 450 Yoruba miscreants departed already

350 Yoruba miscreants begging for money.. to go back to their ondo and Oyo farms.. not villages..

And you’re here on empty bellies with your likes are crying igbos

Pray that the commissioner no catch you.. Na straight to ijebu igbo

We’re only saying that the commissioner must be encouraged to deport miscreants which constitutes 97% Yoruba population back to their ekiti ogun and other Yoruba farm

It’s a welcome development

Eko no go spoil.

Did they acquire the land from Yorubas at gun point? Were they not sold willingly?

When you see people doing better than you are, show some respect.

If you were truly doing beta your father won't be making senseless noise allniver social media. We will all see it.

Land on waterways not sold to you is what you are asking of you bought at gin point. If you have valid paper why not take it to court.

They should stop building on canals....

These buildings being demolished is not up to 0.00000000005% of Lagos fine buildings.

they do. But it doesn’t make news because the people involved are poor. And most of those building on right of way in recent times are rich people/ rich developers. So nothing out of the ordinary

COMRADES, at op, why those expensive buildings get demolished is that; the owners are wealthy, and they usually bribe government officials in order to contravene a master plan, so, when the law will take its course, it affects them gravely

What do you mean by fine buildings? undecided

in Lagos, we are not used to such buildings, it's alien to us... We are more comfortable with houses that are cramped together where we can at least be closer to our neighbors, with little or no fence sharing things as little as salt which Foster unity unlike that alien design imported from the Eastern part of Nigeria to make us live apart from our neighbors, iro!!! shocked

Are the structures in Makoko ugly to you? It's a source of tourism for lasgidi

Land done finish for the area but many especially igbo people get strong head and in a quest to keep up with the joneses will buy land that are road paths, Canal paths thinking na Nigeria bah money or more money go make officials look the other way.

But the flooding in the area means government is now carrying out its infrastructure plan in the area. My area of the lekki/epe highway just dey get gutter and canal development.

For abroad the people follow the government but 9ja the government follows the people and start to cause havoc retrospectively citing Master Plan when they should lead with infrastructure development.

Our people have to learn say be mindful of the type of risk one takes and the fact that you might not get away with it.

It’s always heart wrenching to watch the demolition.
