Lagos is not facing any housing deficit - the problem is that houses are not affordable. Like you said, everyone cannot live in Lagos. Stay in your village, farm on your ancestral lands and make money. Agribusinesses are lucrative these days because foodstuff is costly.

PEOPLE will always migrate to where there are opportunities, do something useful it still highly dependent on an enabling environment .. thats key

Asides Lagos, most states in Nigeria are dry and have low opportunities for the youths

Very pertinent contribution. Only a highly unreasonable person will deny that Lagos has the right to handle her forced overpopulation, along with the many negative burdens that brings, any way she wants.

Lagos, the smallest State in Nigeria, is hosting 10% , i.e 23 million people, of the total estimated 230 million population of our nation.


More keep arriving Lagos daily and permanently because All other State governors and their successors have been missing in action since 1999.

Yet when the entire Nigeria comments it is Lagos they always attack for not building affordable houses, not "caring" about the poor, not providing welfare packaged etc.

Not many talk about the unfairness towards Lagos stemming from how other Governors are horrendously incompetent and callous to the extent all young and able-bodied indigene have fled or wish to flee their States for Lagos, Abuja etal.

The worthless 'waste of space' Governors should be sued and sanctioned for gross incompetence and dereliction of duty if not for the yeye immunity from prosecution they enjoy.

I back Lagos over any action her leaders feel they have to take to sanitise the State because she is not a 'freebies Hotel for all the Nigerians other Governors have made downtrodden and hopeless.

Blame abd focus should fall on those Governors who feel no shame that misrule has made their indigenes flee to Lagos to be glorified refugees living under bridges and in plank houses built on water in Lagos.

The thing is majority of those so called homeless have towns & villages with unoccupied buildings but they prefer to stay in Lagos at all cost even if takes sleeping under the Bridges. The Truth LAGOS IS NOT MEANT FOR EVERYBODY.Farming is very lucrative now & some of us are already diversifying there even with our white-collar Jobs.

See the loads of combustible materials stored under the bridge. If ignited, it will destroy the bridge and will cost government and the people much resources in time and value.

Our governments like to go on vacations while on duty. If the government is not on its toes, that place will be a shanty again within month.

Also, there need to be reorientation for people outside Lagos who are looking to come to Lagos without plans. You can actually be richer than many people living in Lagos if you stay back in your village and utilize the vast arable lands for agriculture. Lagosians don't farm agriculture will always be a gold mine. Rather than roaming the streets of Lagos doing nothing.

Many people in Lagos have family lands in their home state wasting away while they roam the streets of Lagos wasting away themselves. There needs to be a serious mind reengineering.
