You simply don't get it. Politics is all about PERCEPTION. Do zi think the costal road will improve the economy of my state*Edo) not really. However the opposition to this project, by the SE, is creating a perception in many in the SS, that the SE do not care about them. It may be sound and moral economics to oppose the project, but its bad politics. The 'Path to power' for an Igbo candidate is already steep enough. Why make it even steeper? Why do you think the North are not saying anything about the project?

I understand your point but you should also understand that the man in charge of this project is an Igbo man Umahi, the only issue here is Peter Obi comment about the project, the south east has nothing to do with this. Peter does not represent everybody from the south east, not every Igbo is in support of Obi ambition to become Nigeria president, you guys need to understand this.

mind you there is a cyber crime law that outlaws dog whistling and hope you also know that Tribal incitement is a crime punishable by jail term, if you think these guys cannot track you down you are joking, now back to your argument. Do you know that the same time Surulere and other areas were being sandfilled in the 60s the British also considered sandfilling some parts of the delta, do you know why they abandoned it? the project is not feasible and it is very expensive and the ecological effects will be mind boggling. it is sheer stupidity to compare a small Lagos with an immense area that is the drainage basin of one of Africa's longest rivers( the River Niger). Make una dey use una sense when una wan argue.

Bros leave it to the contractors..it is there area of experties...plus they dont need to sand fill the whole land, just the narrow strecth that they need for the road.

They would have surveyed the road and come up with most viable options.

So please stop taking aspirin for another mans headache.

After all..the east west road was built on the same swamp you are talking about

Mention one currency that have been in an upward trend since the past 15yrs till date.

Even your Almighty dollar has lost it's purchasing power when your compare what $5 can buy in USA 2014 and what the same amount can buy for you in the same USA today.
Even though the naira has consistently lost values, it not @ 50% yearly rate.

I am trying to point out to you how miserable hatred and bitterness has ruined you, you are here talking about English comprehension.
Lol.
I was right about your poor performance in English.
You must have failed it woefully, and still doing so today.
I was not referring to inflation when I said that mentioned loss of value over the next 5yrs, but loss in value to major currencies of trade.

But, I glad you agree that ' Naira has consistently lost value' .
Now ,my question is what do you see on ground that might stop or reverse that downward trend over the next five years?

this is not the way or sort of development Nigeria needs .This is an embezzlement scheme. Don’t you realise this ? 😓. If you truly love Nigeria. Or just your people you will speak against this. A few people will award money to themselves for this. Others will benefit in some ways. E nor reach your turn. No body in your house benefits. Building a road like that in a terrain of Niger delta is impossible. Huge rivers , more than 30 rivers biggger than the body of water dividing Lagos island and mainland. You honestly think Nigeria can fund that ? You must be joking. Nobody will even borrow us. Like a gateman looking for 50m to borrow 😀

There's no big deal in building bridges on swamp. The Bayelsa state government is presently building a road to the atlantic ocean

The FG has built a road and bridge from Bodo to Bonny. There's no big deal in building roads and bridges on swampy areas

It Still doesn't Stop Lagos from being Yorubaland
It is not about Money or Investments
It is about our God Given Heritage
Same as the Dangote Refinery investment didn't turn Lagos into Hausaland
It is not about Money it is about ancient Heritage
We have More Stake than You because Yorubaland is our only Homeland for our Ancestors, Us and our descendants

That was why when people fled to the East during Oso Abiola , Yorubas had to stay put because they were already in their Homeland and had nowhere else to flee to

Even though it would benefit my state(Port Harcourt) if it was possible. People shouting coastal highway have never been to the water front areas,

If you have ever been to Lagos and you know third mainland bridge. That's the kind of bridge you would need that will cut across the stretch of Delta State, Bayelsa and Port Harcourt talkless of Akwa Ibom.

These areas are creeks and mangroves sea.

For me what I understand it's going on here is that Chagoury man wants to use coastal highway tactics to claim Lagos water front. That's why his company started sand filling wether anyone like it or not.

The first picture below is Delta State area alone. To fund the high bridge that will cross these areas America, Chinese and Europeans will have to come together to fund it for us.

What gave you the impression that they have ny intention of building anything beyond Lagos? It's been conceived as an uncompleted project from day one, funds will be disbursed but diverted to other sources as usual

Bro east west road was built on the fringes of the swamp so the reclamation costs was minimal. you want to build a coastal highway close to the coast, that means you are going deep into the Niger delta. let us not deceive ourselves here it will never work at all. During Colonial times they had to abandon the idea because the Niger Delta is vast, c'mon it is the drainage basin of one of Africa's longest rivers. The main challenge in the delta is the remote construction deep in the delta at the point where it empties into the ocean along with the drainage points in Forcados and the Nun. again from PH to Akwa Ibom. how they will design the road to traverse the Imo River Estuary at Ikot Abasi and the Qua Iboe River, and last is the Cross River Estuary.

Tinubu will build only Lagos side, then promise SS that he will complete it if they vote him in 2027, since his Northern Masters have started forsaken him..

The unrealistic project is all about siphoning of public fund and 2027 election plans ...

Smart people know what Tinubu is up to..
Very mischievous clown!.

If Tinubu is been truthful to himself and cares about the interest of Niger Delta like he claims, he should restructure Nigeria now he's in charge, so that Niger Delta can take in charge of their destiny, because restructuring has been Tinubu's anthem since time immemorial just to capture power which he was using to deceive the gullible ones...

I don't think the fraudulent road project will create entirely new routes that will pass through those mangrove forests and creeks they will just link it to the existing east west road.

What you guys are doing is wicked to the bone

Niger Delta is the goose that Lays Nigeria's Golden eggs and after 40years FG wants to do something Substantial for them by building them a Coastal Highway and you are now fighting against it

You no Shame?

Yet You saw Buhari building Railway for his People even to Niger using the Niger Delta's resources

Don't you know that at least Half of what was used to build Abuja was supposed to have gone to the Niger Delta as infrastructure for the sake of Fairness and non exploitation?

FG has Cheated Niger Delta so badly for decades to the extent that they don't even argue about it again they only give them fake promises to improve their behavior towards the Niger Delta and because of a Single Road you are here fighting

You want to build road for Niger Delta but somehow started it from Lagos?. And you just remembered that even you, the Yoruba, has been splurging on Niger Delta resources since before the British left?.

Niger Delta's oil and gas money was used to build Lagos, when will you give them half of what was used to build Lagos as you proposed for Abuja?. My problem with you people is that you are morbidly mendacious. For una warped mind, una go think say una get sense.

If this is about Niger Delta, then that road ought to have started from Calabar, not Lagos. And it should have been awarded to multiple construction firms, people with proven construction experience in Nigeria like Berger and others. Not awarded under shady circumstances solely to Tinubu owned Hightec without proper public tender.

Most of those antagonising this project are Igbos. However, it is unfortunate that this project has shown the kind of hatred Igbos have for the South South.
You love the south south so much, so why didnt you start the project in the south south? You conveniently started it in Lagos knowing fully well the construction will barely ever cross beyond the Lagos border even in 8 years.

You love the south south so much but the existing east-west road which links all major states in the region, you've refused to complete it after 2 decades, citing lack of funds. It'd cost less than a trillion naira to complete the east-west road but you claim there's no money for that; instead you choose to prioritise building a brand new N15trillion road starting with Phase 1 which conveniently starts and ends inside Lagos. Meanwhile it is Igbos that hate the SS?

So much love for the south south indeed! ❤️
Re: See why the Coastal Highway In Nigeria Is Impossible by grandstar(m): 9:40pm On May 07
The problem I have concerning the road is who is telling the truth?

The pro-Tinubu camp support the road, while majority of the naysayers are not idle chatterers. They are pro-Obi.

All I know is that Tinubu is determined to build this coastal road. It might not be quite coastal if they will need to bypass the creeks except they sand fill it which would come with dire environmental consequences.

I don't think this project was initially Tinubu's to begin with. . It was PDP. Tinubu has seen the potential benefit and that's why he is determined to complete it. The benefit to the economy would be huge once completed.

Naysayers should down their swords for now.
