*DO YOU KNOW NOILERS ARE RAISED FOR MEAT AND EGG LAYING? THEY CONSUME LESS FEED AND ARE HIGHLY PROFITABLE.* Noilers are those birds you see with different colors of feathers they don't have a particular color you can use to recognize them. Their body form resembles Cockerels and their males grow tall so much more than other poultry birds. Noilers are the breed that was gotten after mating Broilers with Noilers. And that's why they add meat almost like Broilers and are rugged, resistant to diseases, and have sweetmeats like Cockerels. NOILERS' MALES ARE GOOD FOR MEAT PRODUCTION WHY THEIR FEMALES ARE GOOD FOR EGG LAYING. So if you are looking for dual-purpose birds or you want both Egg and meat from your poultry birds, you should go for Noilers. Noilers' meat is not the same as broiler meats, because they have sweeter and tougher meats than Broilers. Noilers are also strong and resistant to heat and hot weather, so they don't get affected by them. If you are also considering raising birds in your compound and also like free-range birds, Noilers are very good birds when it comes to free-ranging because of their resistance to diseases than other birds, they can eat and survive on your leftover food and still maintain their body weights. After 5Months the females start laying eggs and their eggs can be used for food consumption or you can decide to mate the males with the females and take the eggs laid after mating to hatcheries to hatch the eggs and you can also give the eggs to local hens to hatch their eggs for you. Because Noilers cannot hatch their eggs. Noiler meat yield per bird is also greater than that of cockerel; males weigh approximately 3.5 kg (7.7 lb.) and females about 2.5 kg (5.5 lb.). However, Noiler chickens eat more than other breeds but they are good converters of feeds The female Noilers could commence laying from the age of 20 weeks but have in mind that they can not produce as many eggs as the original pullet layers do and they also can't lay for long as pullet layers do. A female noiler can produce around 150 – 170 eggs per year, however, it cannot be compared to real pullets in terms of egg production. So, if you are only interested in eggproduction, do not buy Noiler, instead, go for Isa brown pullets. *BEFORE COLLECTING YOUR NEXT SET OF BROILERS TO REAR, TAKE NOTE OF THIS 24 IMPORTANT THINGS YOU HAVE TO DO.* 1)Find out the best breed available 2)Look for hatcheries with your preferred breed of broiler chicken(follow my recommended breeds: first and second) 3)Use only reliable vendors/agent (some swap carton and breeds) 4)Prepare your brooding house; heating devices, medications, and vaccination schedule 4)Get your disinfectant for foot dip and general sanitation 5)Block all crevices and prevent rodents, reptiles, and birds from entering 6)Heat the house to about 34.5oc before chicks’ arrival 7)Reduce supplementary heat every other day until no supplementary heat is needed  Get a small thermometer to monitor the brooding temperature9)Use good bedding/litter material. 10)Know your floor space requirement (1.3 to 2.4 Sq. ft. per bird) 11)Keep a daily record of your broiler feeding, growth rate, medications and vaccines used 12)Monitor weight gain per week (weight is your selling point) 13)Check your feeding ( know when your birds are not eating well 14)Feed your broilers ad-libitum (without restrictions) 15)Monitor drinking water. Always provide cool water and prevent dehydration 16)Broiler chickens need more ventilation as they grow. They will die if denied access. 17)Watch out for common broiler diseases like coccidiosis and CRD 18)Avoid spilling water on the litter. When you do, pack the spot and replace the bedding. 19)Use broiler starter for the first 3-4 weeks 20)Switch to broiler finisher at week 4 or 5 21)Skip grower feed if you are raising your broilers for a maximum of 8 weeks 22)If possible, start marketing before your birds hit 4 weeks 23)Make sure your broiler chickens are free from coccidiosis before you vaccinate them 24)Always measure drugs and micro-ingredients with a digital scale. Seven (7) poultry rules for your farm: Do you have passion for poultry and really wish to stay long in the business? Then, obey these rules! A.Rule (1) ..."Only order for birds you can conveniently take care of". This is the most important rule of all. Instead of stocking 500 birds and then struggle to feed them or give them medication, buy 200 ,feed and give them good medication. Trust me, you'll make more profit than keeping 500 and struggling to feed and give the medication. If this happens, you'll battle with stunted growth, recurrent morbidity or disease outbreaks and high mortality. B.Rule (2) ..."Never borrow money to start poultry business unless you are an expert". Of course, there is no expert in poultry business. In fact, we learn everyday. Every stock you take in will always teach you something different. However, Haven learnt from all the different characteristics displayed by each stock, you get to know more and won't be excited when challenges come. You'll know how to handle them without much damage. C.Rule (3) ..."Be vigilant". The little things you don't take as anything matters. If you want to succeed in poultry, you must take it as a real business. Do you know what a business man does every morning when he gets to his store? He pray, then open the store and go round to check if everything is in its place. He take stocks of what he met there and relate with his records yesterday before closing the store. Don't just open your Pen and start rushing to give your birds feed and water and rush out again. Check around. Watch how they behave when you came in. Check what fell and what is no longer in its place. D.Rule (4) ..."Never ignore warning signals". Yes, I call them warning signals. 1.Bad smell 2.Withdrawal from feed 3.Moodiness 4.Withdrawal from water There are numerous warning signals i can't mention here. In fact, they are so many A farmer must know how his birds behaves when they see him enter the in the morning. How they behave when he serve them feed. He should know the very active terrors and gentle lambs If you keep these signals, you'll easily spot when something is not right. E.Rule (5) ..."Never change feed indiscriminately!" I know you do this. Yes, you. When farmers talk about changing feed from this to this and that then this all in the name getting better result, I'm always scared for them. Whether you are changing from a bad feed to a good one, you must be very careful. Do you know every change in feed affect your bird negatively first before gradually bringing in the results you don't desire? Most of the times, you may suffer withdrawal, coccidiosis, feed wastage, stress and more. Imagine changing from mash to Pellet indiscriminately. Do you know what that means? Have you studied the difference between mash and Pelleted feed and the process of digestion? They may contain the same ingredients but the formulation process varies so is the digestion process. Note: I don't mean changing from starter to grower or finisher but changing from one commercial feed to another .e.g change from Ethiochicken / Alama to other brands. Even whenever you need to change from starter to grower follow the rules 75% starter and 25% grower, then 50% grower and 50% starter and finally 75% grower and 25% starter. At the end you change 100% to grower feed. You can follow the same rule whenever you need to change from one phase feed to other. This one works for feed of the same brand too. Each company use their own unique ingredients to make their feeds although they may give the same nutritional content. Before using any feed for your birds, find out first about the feed and make sure you stick with it. F.Rule (6) ..."Never let your birds run dry of water". Have you heard of heat stress? If it has happened to your birds then you'll understand what I'm saying. Heat stress can wipe your entire flock. And it may leave your birds vulnerable to all kinds of infection as their immune system get weakened and may take more than 14 days to fully recover. Your birds can survive 48 hours without feed but they can't survive 7 hours without water. Instead of running out of water, please, run out of feed. G.Rule (7) ..."If you can't drink that water, don't give it to your birds". Some farmers takes chickens as they are just animals and nothing matters. Maybe they've forgotten they are dealing with delicate live animals. Waterborne diseases are some of the deadliest disease and most difficult to control. Imagine a tiny drop of harmful substance inside the drinking water; it'll contaminate the whole water. If it was feed, it may not be that bad. Please, if you can't drink that water, don't give it to your birds. I'm not talking about medicated water. |

*HOW TO MINIMIZE THE MONEY YOU SPEND ON DRUGS AND HOW TO ACHIEVE ZERO MORTALITY WHEN RASING BOTH DAY OLD AND WEEKS OLD BIRDS.* Many Broller farmers are using deep litter system to raise their birds why very few uses Battery Cages (iron suspension cage) to raise their Broilers. And I think so many people believe that the battery cages is only meant for Layers and that's why they have not chosen to use it for raising both their day old and weeks old broilers. Battery cages system Also known as (iron suspension cage) when used to raise Broilers is very advantageous over deep litter system because the issue of Diseases such as COCCIDIOSIS and CRD that manifest themselves in wet and dirty environment has already been dealt with. Since most of the diseases that attacks birds needs watery,moist,wet and dirty litter to manifest themselves, they won’t be able to appear in battery cage system because the birds droppings which is the diseases house falls below the cages and also any water that can make diseases show up doesn’t stay in the cages but drains immediately below the cages. In battery cage systems the occurence of Coccidiosis, fowl cholera and CRD is very low and this will also help farmers to save the money spent on drugs and medications. When you make use of battery cages their is increased hygiene because the poops and birds no longer stay on the same floor because the poops always fal under the cages. And this lower the incidence of diseases thats transferred through droppings. The birds will also gain weight faster because they are within confined space and so, the nutrients and energy used to move up and down will be converted to fat in their bodies, and this will help them to add weights faster than when raised in deep litter system. There is ease of management when birds are raised in battery cages because its very easy to clean and wash the cages There is no litter packing problems in battery cage system because the droppings fall under the cages where it can be easily packed and can be easily disposed off. |
