I am a tourist and I am travelling to see my husband at the end of the month. I read somewhere that wearing camouflage is banned and illegal in Nigeria.

Does this mean I cannot wear my camouflage backpack through Lagos airport? Should I purchase a new backpack?

Don't do camo in naija...if you are a white tourist, you'll lose money but if you are black you may lose a limb or more, with money. Buy another backpack

If you are white, you may get away with it, black American with the accent, you may get away with it but a black Nigerian like me πŸ˜‚ you are in for serious trouble... either ways please get another bag cos these law enforcement we have don’t seem to know their left from their right and will seize any opportunity to extort you... be safe and welcome to Nigeria πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬ And I can be ur personal driver/security if you are looking for one

The first question is what colour are you? If you are black, do you look like a westerner?

Wearing camouflage will get you harassed by soldiers, but security operatives are usually careful around foreigners because messing with them can get you in trouble.

I am Irish and Australian. I'm very pale. πŸ˜‚ I am happy they will not harass me
