The Tribunal has intervened to prevent MultiChoice from raising subscription fees for DStv and Gotv services.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal (CCPT) in Abuja issued a ruling on Monday preventing Multi-Choice Nigeria Limited from implementing its planned price hikes and increases for products and services set to take effect on May 1st.

The interim order was granted by a tribunal consisting of three members, with Saratu Shafii as the presiding officer. This decision came after an ex-parte motion was presented by Ejiro Awaritoma, who is the legal representative of Festus Onifade, the applicant.

They allowed DISCOs to increase prices but they don't want DSTV to increase their prices.
Epitome of nonsense!

I can bet with you that multi choice will not obey the order.

Their new prices have already been confirmed. Gotv Supa+ is now N15,700 against it's former price of N12,500.

The problem with Nigerians is that we don't speak with one voice. Tribalism really divided us. If not tell me how these criminals would constantly keep exploiting us year in year out and all we can do is to grumble on social media without any action?

This is simply ridiculous. There are a dozen and one items that have been on the increase and that includes fuel, but by all means, let's ignore all that and focus on multichoice.

That won't stop DSTV even the last increment they were told to step down on the price they didn't. You can't tell a landlord how to build his house, those that will pay will pay those who will not won't.No be by force.

This is why foreign companies are leaving Nigeria. How can they be intervening in a legitimate business like this? How is that their business?

And it’s always Aboki people chairing this kind of things because they don’t know much about businesses or even logical thinking. Na just to dey accuse other of cheating and pretending they are more moral

They can't stop things that the poor masses enjoy from increasing prices.
Re: CCPT Has Intervened To Prevent Multichoice From Raising Subscription Fee by btaliat(m): 7:12pm On Apr 29
I don't get this. Ask them not to increase price? Why? Are we in a socialist state? Put the necessary things like electricity, reduced price of fuel and enabling environment in place, and watch the price coming down itself.

And also, ensure stiff competition by allowing and promoting local against any foreign monopolistic companies.

Government knows what to do, they just love using us catch cruise because they know we are blinded by religion and ethnicity.
