The last couple of days has been dramatic for the scientific community in Nigeria and the whole nation at large, with the supposed discovery for the cure for HIV/AIDs, by professor ibeh, at first, prof ibeh, a professor with the university of benin came out to address the press to tell them that he and some of his colleagues had discovered the cure for the AIDs pandemic, only for him to come out some days later to recant the whole story, and for his employer which is the university of benin to distance it's self from the whole escapade, is it that a professor of that caliber lied to us? Or is there a global conspiracy to hide the cure for HIV and AIDs? We have to think about this thoroughly, we have had speculations for long about how AIDs is man-made, does this whole fiasco give credence to that hypothesis? Did the professor lie? Or was he threatened to back off? Is there a scientific cabal that's bent on not releasing the cure for HIV and AIDs, pls let's share our opinions, my distinguished fellow nairalanders,

Who is afraid of a solution for this dreaded disease?
There has been many rumours and whisperings for the cure of these disease.... Hope some people in the scientific world is not bent on making sure that the cure isn't discovered...

He is not the first person to say the cure to aids has been discovered.. We re living in a very dangerous world, do u want those pharmacetical companies that produce hiv pills to close down, or do u want the billions of dollars that goes to hiv research every year to end or those companies producing condoms to close down... thereby creating more unemployed pple.. This world is business and everything must b done to make sure that business continues

Speachless. I dnt trust this hiv aids story. I dnt trust the whole hiv aids hoola baloo. Not the first time people who allegedly have found a cure for aids have either dissappeared or killed. Something tells me that Usa already have the cure but feared the trillion spent on anti retroviral will be a waste. I am sure after the pandemic aids,other deadly disease wil be released. Wait a sec. Where is the so called bird flu? The west wil do anything to kill any cure until they are ready.

Two things are likely;
Publicity stunt by Prof Ibeh
or
they actually found something, and were excited to make hasty announcements....
The fact is that on daily bases thousands of molecules are screened for therapeutic potency, only very few make it to the final stage of approval for use in humans and even at that stage its the duty of the regulatory agency to make the announcement.
So, the conspiracy theory is unlikely. Prof and his team errred in making such public claims, at best what they should have done is to present their research findings in a scentific conference to relevant stake holders and HIV specialists.

the cure for AIDS will be released in some years time. the aim of AIDS/HIV havnt been met..i.e to xtermnate the world population to a minimal level, so that the surviving population can enjoy whats left aftermath.

Because a Professor is a human like you and unlike the HIV virus is not immune to Lies...

Hiv or aids was man made disease to eliminate african ,my facts.i could remember when some group of white ppl went to libya to inject libyan children polio viccine ,the drug was tested by libyan intelligents and they found out its hiv, those devils was sentence to death calling it a joke the veto powers intervened the doctors were released

2) The authorities said that the professor did not follow due process before making the announcement.

3) The professor admitted that he did not follow due process before making the announcement and apologised for that.

I haven't seen any "lie" yet.

It's just like when Raypower FM started broadcasting in 1994. The NBC said it had not yet permitted Raypower to start broadcasting, even though they had met some of the conditions specified in the license. Raypower admitted that they had not yet gotten authorisation and apologised. The NBC later permitted Raypower to start broadcasting after it met all the conditions.


Let's wait for the completion of all the processes and see whether the professor's research will scale through.
