Glo Increases Their Blackberry Monthly Plan From N1000, To N1,400. by Tochaigh: 2:22pm On Feb 26, 2016
I bought N1000 glo credit today to subscribe for the complete blackberry monthly plan which I was using on my android phone through some clever means. Recharged my phone, kept trying to subscribe, and I kept getting your balance isn't enough.

So I thought it was the usual glo wahala, I removed my phones battery and restarted it, lo and behold, glo had deducted N5, remaining N995, I bought another N100 and Recharged my phone again, but still got the same reply when I tried to subscribe. So I decided to use the *777# code to check what the current price is and then I saw N1,400.

Still in doubt I called glo's customer care, and spoke with an agent who confirmed that it was now N1,400, I just smiled, and I knew what I was going to do next. Even though I just had to buy an additional N300 credit, I simply used gtbanks *737*credit amount# to recharge N2000 credit on my Etisalat line and subscribed for Etisalat's 2gb data plan. Because :

1. I wasn't notified about the increase.
2. Glo deducted N5 for reasons best known to them.
3. Poor Internet network. Because I have two android phones, I have to put the one with the glo sim in it somewhere where there's good network and connect through WiFi. Imagine!!

I will look for these roadside vendors to sell the N1,000 to, if I don't see. I will probably dash the credit out, cause I don't even call with my Glo line.

cld this be as a result of current economics woes?, GLO has no reason to increase the data rate, I had to cough out extra 400 naira to subscribe, this is becoming unbearable.

Can't be. They are simply greedy. They've a very large number of subscribers moving over to their services in recent months

I saw a thread where someone was downloading at 2.1mb/sec on airtel. People said they've upgraded their network recently.

Smart move from them. Glo must have realised that subscribers using the plan are mostly android users.

Exactly, if Etisalat just reduces their 2gb to N1500, almost everyone will migrate because they can't compete with Etisalat's speed and consistency.

Why not put yourself in their position for a minute. You run a business and someone is always taking your wares at cheaper prices, how long will your business thrive? And before you go on saying they're milking Nigerians dry, put into consideration their expenses like taxes and levies, upgrade and maintenance of their equipment, salaries they pay to hundreds of employees and so on. If you cannot pay the additional N500, kindly port to another network

When did they start the offer? I mean the #1000 for 3gb.

Have they not been paying taxes or salaries before now?

It was never an offer to begin with, if it was you would not have to tweak your device's imei to subccribe for it. it was a plan exclusively for the blackberry bold, curve and torch series. They made it flexible so other devices can enjoy but Nigerians to over-exploit it. They know there are fewer blackberry users than android users on the plan, that's why they increased it.
