Not sure where to post this. Say you have a 16 GB flash drive. Theoretically or practically, would it weigh more when loaded with data than when the storage is empty?
Re: Which Weighs More? Full Or Empty Flash Drive? by Nobody: 7:26pm On Apr 08, 2016
cheesy ...No weight difference
Re: Which Weighs More? Full Or Empty Flash Drive? by Justycxx(m): 7:30pm On Apr 08, 2016
owing to gravitational anomalies, the flashdrive might experience a slight loss or gain in weight depending on the actual gravity of the environment.

The question is clueles and lacks logic reasoning. Its like asking if u can weigh a dead body and a living body with a soul.

You're clearly not thinking scientifically about this. Of course, if the soul is thought of as energy, then a body with a soul would have more mass than a soulless body and would thus weigh more.
Think E=mc². Mass-energy equivalence.

Photons are massless.
Slight change in mass

Do you regard the stored data as photons?

Em... Ok... Not photons.

There will be a slight change in mass, but the difference in weight would be so small and nominal

Yeah. I think about it this way: Stored data leads to increase in energy, which is actually an increase in mass according to Einstein's equation (E=mc²). Thus the weight increases, though negligibly. So small would be this change in weight that even the most sensitive balances will not detect it.

Yeah, exactly. Imagine dividing a defined amount of electrical energy by (3 x 10 ^ 8 ) ^ 2.

The result would be so so small.

I disagree, besides I was just giving an instance. tellme, are u insinuating that OP is relatively correct by that question?

I didn't make any statement in the op. I just asked a question. What do you disagree on? That the soul can be thought of as energy or that increase in energy is equivalent to increase in mass?

If I have an empty notebook and then I write in all the pages, does it make it any lighter or heavier? undecided

Yes, in theory it does make it heavier, albeit negligibly. Do you know physics?

Seems that way to me as well.
Re: Which Weighs More? Full Or Empty Flash Drive? by UyiIredia(m): 7:04am On Apr 09, 2016
It would weigh more with data but the added weight would be neglible which is why one doesn't feel the difference.

Yes I know physics. But then, it's obviously negligible. Approximating to couple of decimal place will give equal value.

it does make it heavier but at a very miniscule level that you cannot notice it

In quantum physics you're not permitted to approximate. Quantum change no matter how negligible in the macro world is still change albeit.

I think so too. The difference is only at the quantum level.

I was hoping you'd write an epistle. Come on, write an epistle.

hahahahaha common bro you lot already have done a good job answering the thread, sometimes an epistle is not needed.

a few words most times are more powerful than a thousand!!!

Just like we are too tiny to notice the curvature of the earth surfaces (so we imagine it as flat while standing on it) so too are we too big to notice the changes at a micro level.

If you tap the wall beside you right now slightly, there MUST and IS a slight vibration induced by that slight tap of your finger but you are too big to notice such miniscule change.

But that doesn't mean there wasn't any Change there was and no approximations can erase that in actuality..

Yeah, a smaller organism like an ant would notice that change. Brian Greene once pointed that when we observe a thread, we see a seeming one dimension, whereas an ant can navigate the 3 dimensions of that thread. Just like rats hear ultrasonic sounds.

Yes I know. I'm talking from mere human perception, not physics.

Thanks.
