Hi,
I tried to purchase an airtime with my umobile app on Friday but the transaction wasn't successful. I checked the umobile app only to discover that it was marked as a successful transaction. So, I messaged Uba informing them of the failed transaction.
I was told to wait for 24hrs for resolution. I notified them that 24hr had passed and I'm yet to get my refund. I received a call later on Sunday afternoon from Uba, I asked the guy his reason for calling me when I demanded they refund my money.
Long story short, he said they can pay me now while they investigate the transaction. That I only need to fill a form. Well, I said he should send the form to my mail. I checked the mail only to find indemnity form. Who has experienced this with Uba?
I didn't borrow a loan from Uba oh, just a failed transaction of #2500 and you're sending indemnity form. Usually I proceed with caution on legal documents as I don't know uba's motive here. Anyone have similar experience?

One would think the amount involved is in millions of naira, for the bank to be taking such a serious approach in reversing the money.

Oh well, maybe it's their in-house procedure.

Why do you have to fill an indemnity form to debit your account over a failed transaction. Many issues like this are resolved on daily basis by the CC. Just go to the branch were your account is designated and make complaint.

The problem here is that people don't read!

What the form is simply saying is that you claimed XYZ and you want to be settled before the bank completes its investigation, therefore, you have to sign that in the event that your claim is discovered to be completely or partially incorrect (maybe the service was duly rendered or the amount you quoted is over and above what you are entitled to), the bank has the right to debit your account for whatever amount that you have over-claimed.

Irrespective of the amount involved, it is the right thing to do. If 1,000 customers claim N2,500 (small amount, right!), that's N2.5million potential loss.

Then, imagine losing N2.5million everyday. I hope you know what that means to any business.

Yeah, I see reasons with you.

I'm only surprised because I've had many dispense error and debited for unsuccessful transaction issues, with my various banks, without anyone asking me to fill an indemnity form for an 'early' reversal.

How even early is a reversal which is occurring more than 24hours after?

Oh well, like I said earlier, maybe it's a UBA Plc in-house practice.

Thank you for your comment but you don't need to insult me for you to pass your message across.
Most of my dm's with Uba have been one reversal or the other.
They are not doing me any favour, they're offering me a service.
Why I posted it was because I saw the transaction marked as successful meanwhile i'm yet to receive the recharge amount.
Since, its my first time experiencing this. Is it wrong for me to post it online?
If its a new development, I don't deserve to know about it?
