Tesla Cybertruck - 7 Facts You May Not Realize by Serendipity101: 8:41pm On Dec 24, 2019
The Tesla Cybertruck is currently the talk of town. Ever since its Los Angeles unveiling, it has been generating conversations in the automobile spheres. We cannot say that we are surprised though. Elon Musk himself “warned” us that his vehicle would be a pacesetter. But of course, everyone thought he was just bluffing. It is his product, what else would you expect him to say?

Well, it turned out to be more than just a bluff. After the reveal, we can authoritatively say that, indeed, the Cybertruck is first of a kind. Perhaps you are wondering why we say so, read along to find out.

1. It is a modified pickup

Looking at the Cybertruck for the first time, you will think it is a first-of-a-kind type of vehicle. Actually, it is very unique, but it falls under the category of a pickup. This is evident in its size. The Tesla model is 231 inches in length just about the length of several pickups around. Its cargo capacity is 100-cubic foot, and its crew cab capacity for passengers is 6.

The truck’s cargo has not been thoroughly examined yet. But during the epic unveil, viewers watched how an electric ATV was driven on top of it. This was also seen during the short drives outside.

There is very little information about the Cybertruck’s engine. However, it is presumed that the engine is higher than that of your regular trucks.

2. It is an off-road machine

Of what use is a truck if it does not go all the way off road? Well, the Tesla Cybertruck might be fancy, but it is no pushover when it comes to off-road rides. If anything, it gives other vehicles a run for their money.

Built to pass through rough terrains effortlessly, the truck has an air suspension that is 16 inches off the ground. There are overhangs in the rear and a low front that positions it perfectly as it approaches and departs from rough terrains. The approach angle has a good 35 degrees and the part angles have a good 28 degrees.

We cannot say about the vehicle’s breakover angle as Elon did not mention anything about it. But considering the distance between the rear and front axles, this will not be so fantastic. Other off-road features of the car not mentioned include fording depth, suspension travel and suspension design.

3. It comes in different specs

There is not only one design offered in the Cybertruck. It comes in a variety of specs. Users get to choose the one they prefer. There are electric motor options of either 1, 2 or 3. Configurations offered include both all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive. Towing capacity of the 1-motor pickup is 7,500 pounds.

In 6.5 seconds, it covers 60 mph. The base guise can withstand up to 3,500 pounds.

The Cybertruck’s 2-motor variant does 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. This is slower than the 3-motor variant which does the same 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds.

4. Bullets have nothing on it

If Musk’s claims hold water, then bullets have nothing on the Cybertruck. He specifically stated that the rear breed could shake off an ammunition of 9mm. This is due to the ultrahard exoskeleton. It was initially created for the SpaceX’s Starship.

Even though testing of the window went wrong at the unveil, Musk insists that it is armored. In his defense, other videos of the demonstration were successful.

5. It has a divisive design

Design of the Tesla truck is first of a kind. This can be a good thing as well as a bad thing. For some, having people stare at the truck when they pull over may be fun, but others may not want all that attention. It is yet to be known if a lot of “regular” buyers will want to own the vehicle.

Directors at Tesla were reportedly reluctant about the design. But in the end, it was Musk’s call, and he went for it.

6. It has heavy weight

Special materials such as thick stainless steel and glasses will obviously add to the vehicle’s weight, making it very heavy. Perhaps that is the reason why Musk did not say much about its weight. One of the major features of electric vehicles is light weight. If the Cybertruck is not light enough, it contradicts the whole idea.

7. Users may get less than the advertised product

Previously advertised Tesla products got to the end users different from their advertised versions. They were either more or less in capacity. Stainless steel is great, but it comes off as too industrial. Perhaps Tesla will use regular body color in the units that will be produced for the public.

With its release scheduled for 2021, the public will continue to anticipate the Tesla Cybertruck for a long time. Although some VIPs have started placing orders ahead of its release, no one has driven it first-hand yet except Musk himself. Hopefully, the vehicle will prove naysayers wrong with the outstanding features Musk claims it has.
