There are indications that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is not relenting in its determination to investigate allegations of corruption against some ministers and other officials, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Only last week, former Minister of Aviation under Buhari, Hadi Sirika, was invited by the anti-graft agency to answer questions on allegations of conspiracy, abuse of office, diversion of public funds, and contract inflation. It was alleged that the former Minister awarded aviation contracts amounting to over N8 billion to his brother, who is also a civil servant.

Sirika is billed to be arraigned anytime this week. Commenting on the former minister’s arrest and President Bola Tinubu’s government’s fight against corruption, a source in the presidency, who craved anonymity, because he had no mandate to speak, said: “Like I said before, this government has zero tolerance for corruption. The government is investigating past officials and is ready to recover stolen funds from whoever is found culpable. Some of those who consider themselves untouchables would soon find out that there are no sacred cows in the President’s determination to recover stolen funds.”

Another source said: “You will soon begin to see similar cases. The EFCC is working on many of them but will only invite the targets after concluding their investigations. The former President, who is an anti corruption champion, has washed off his hands and would not lift a finger to save any of his officials found wanting. By now, there would have been so many cases but I learnt that many of them were doing secret plea bargaining and returning stolen funds into government coffers. Whoever is found culpable, and refuses to plea bargain, will have a court date.

In Vietnam, they are sentencing them to death while Nigeria is pampering them.

Plea bargain is the real basis of corruption in the country.

It encourage politicians to steal at will.

Just like during Buhari’s government, everyone leaves the root of the problem and keep pointing fingers at the symptoms.

Nobody wanted to mention Buhari’s name just like nobody wants to mention the president’s name, the one who has all the powers to hire and fire

Buhari is the worst thing to ever happened to Nigeria. May buhari never happen to Nigeria again. Most critic of tinubu is as a result of the calamitous buhari he imposed on Nigeria. Tinubu is a selfish,self-centred and a wicked man.

Any peal bargaining that will retain a naira to the thieves is not welcome, every naira stolen by them must all be recovered. They should not negotiate on any percentages but 100% of what they stole.

Its good they are being investigated..The anger there is these guys already stole so much.Whatever the efcc will recover from them may not be up to 50% of what they stole and efcc closes their file...This is not acceptable..Efcc can do better please...Some of them will run to the court for protection.

Today the naira is in shamble.
You can see the past kogi governor what he did.

Buhari is a curse to Nigeria

Good....! Those ministers took advantage of Buhari's weak and outdated software. Fashola o, Amaechi o, Ngige o, not to talk of all of the northern origin ministers. Buhari was as good as their ATM...with unending withdrawal. They will just package him for a foreign trip, rush him to sign their proposals before leaving. Na so all of them take feed fat on our resources ridding on Mr. Integrity public respect.

In a way, I will like to support plea bargaining. First thing, it will help the government reflate it's purse. Second, no long drama in the court. Besides, a court case is like Baba Ijebu. Even with clear evidence, you can still loose on technical ground or non diligent prosecution. Third, court case can drag for ages, infact the accused may die before the end of the case. Also, if there is a change of personnel in EFCC in the middle of the case, then end of case. Fourth, the cases in court are so many making even the courts to be overwhelmed. Fifth, we can start anti corruption fight with plea bargaining as a short term solution and progress with more stringent measures in the future. Six, the accused can buy justice or get corruption to fight back. Either way Nigeria is the looser.

Bcoz no president would want to fail. No president would ask his minister to go steal for him.

Will the treatment extended to state governors ,I expect Ifeanyi Okowa, Emmanuel Uduaghan to be picked up so that can tell Deltans how they accumulated the highest debt in the country.
