Hello everyone, please come to my aid. I drive a Nissan Maxima 2010.

It suddenly started overheating in January, I replaced the radiator, no changes, I replaced the thermostat, no changes, I replaced the water pump, it has only gotten worse. My mechanics don't know what to do anymore.

Has anyone experienced similar problem? What could be the underlying cause?

The car overheats within 5 minutes of driving but can be on idle for 25 minutes without overheating. I'll appreciate your responses.

Did you change your radiator cap & reservoir cap when you change your radiator? If no, change them.

Fuel economy is the most insignificant factor here. For such engines, you need them to reach optimal operating temperature and that they're not ran few minutes which will in-turn cause challenges.
Morning Chief,
I trust you are doing great. I need your advice. I have been using my 2006 FX35 for over 3 yrs now and it's been a reliable vehicle all this times. With routine maintenance, it has never let me down (apart from a day my camshaft sensor failed on me, go it replaced and was back on the road).
Now, I've grown over the car and i want to upgrade to the 2009 face-lift model. Although at times, i think the shark face is ugly but I'm in love with the interior aesthetics, the side view, rear and i need more power (300hp).
Biko, is the 2nd gen fx35 as reliable as the first gen? I know the VQ is a reliable workhorse but how about the 7 speed transmission? Is it as reliable as the 5speed trans I'm already used to? Please i need your input as regards it's GENERAL RELIABILITY. Thanks Sir!

Greetings brother man, the 2nd gen FX is reliable. It's engine VQ37 was a further improvement upon the already very potent VQ35. The 7sp was also an improvement on the 5sp.

The 7 speed has its well documented issues but nothing you can't live with.

Your car is most likely in limp mode from the Cam and (or) Knock sensor code.
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by Flybouy: 10:55pm On Jun 17
@kingreign and @nisspart

Do you know where I can get OEM catalytic converter for infinity fx35 08.

I serviced the engine oil and changed the air filter and a couple of days later, the check engine light came on.

I scanned and it gave error codes P0420 and P0430 TW catalyst sys banks 1 and 2 errors respectively.
I checked for exhaust leakage and rectified it, scanned again and I was left with P0430 TW catalyst syt bank 2.

Checked O2 sensor and MAF sensors, they are good, which leaves me with bad catalysts option. Reason. I want to change the catalysts.

Also, I noticed after changing the engine oil, i found out that it was shorting. I later found out that the mechanic used 0-40 mobil1 instead of 5w-30 recommended. Could this be the reason the engine oil is (shorting) getting low, does it mean it is burning since it is not the recommended oil.

Reason I checked the MAF sensor is because, it was stalling at full acceleration, but when I took it for diagnosis, one of the things they observed is that the propeller bolts were just 3 instead of 4 and those 3 were not properly tightened, which was rectified.
I also changed the fuel pump cos it was faulty. Now it picks very well and doesn't stall again.

But my fuel Guage is not functioning properly and the car does jerk when shifting gears, like you would notice the sound and also the impact on the vehicle.

I am thinking of servicing the gear with the OEM gear oil and filter.. I also would like to rectify the fuel Guage issue.

Please help out.

Thanks in anticipation.

[quote author=smartistics post=122339120]First your mechanic is not a serious one, if he is familiar with nissan cars FX in particular he should know that the abs wheel sensor has no correlation with the speedometer just like toyota cars. He should plug the scanner to car then drive for real information of the speedometer reading. The turbine revolution sensor is attached to the transmission. FX don't use VSS like toyota.

You should get a C-code for braking or steering issues.

Check brake fluid level.

DIY
Codes P0456 and P0448 have to do with the EVAP system. Resist the urge to fill up your tank after you hear a click and shut the fuel cap tight after each refill. Clear code and if it returns, visit a competent mechanic to diagnose the EVAP canister and vent valve.

P0171 has to do with lean condition due to a vacuum leak. Start by inspecting the air intake hose for any leak. If no tear, visit a competent mechanic to clean/replace the MAF sensor.

If you're in Abuja, I can give you the contact details of a mechanic...the young lad is good!
According to him, he was trained by a company, and his knowledge about cars and infiniti attests to his claim.
He thoroughly serviced my infiniti M35, before driving it down to the East.

Contact please

If it's done well with new and genuine parts, it should serve you for years as long as the reason why it failed in the 1st place as been addressed.

Hello Everyone Greetings.

So I just got this Infiniti M35X after I got bored my Lexus RX300 which is up for sale here on NL.

So I'll need contacts of both certified mechanics and spare parts dealer located anywhere in Nigeria.

As an engineer I know times would come where I'll need their experience and expertise, because I always take care of my cars, from quality engine oils, filters and electrical parts. So as I have joined the infiniti club, please I'll need all your experience to join the family.

Thanks in advance.

Please where can I get original Matic S transmission fluid in Lagos and for how much?

Also how much is the brain box for a 2011 Nissan Almera N17.
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by waterkunle: 6:43am On Sep 29
I scanned by Car (2011 Nissan Almera N17) and got error codes
P0640
P0963
P17B1
P17AE

Electrical connections have been checked after changing the transmission fluid but their seems not to be a physical issue. The engine runs smoothly at first but then start to have kangaroo effect/hesitating afterwards. The rewire and mechanic want to test it with a different brain box first before changing solenoids in the transmission.

One thing I noticed is that my mechanic uses the Nissan CVT transmission fluid (the one with the light blue color) instead of Nissan Matic S

Your model is fitted with Xtronic CVT and choice of fluid is the Nissan CVT NS-3.
