In Nigeria, today, nobody is talking about cancer, how to build a well equipped cancer centres, how to subsidize cancer therapies, how to manage cancer patients with the side effects that that they face after their therapies. There is an alarming rate of cancer in nigeria today and the sad story about the sickness is,it is now found mostly in young ones not upto 45 years. The government are busy talking about malaria, that is well managed in nigeria.HIV,which the treatments have been well subsidized for the patients and they are largely to some percentage well managed. In nigeria today,an average person can not manage the cost of treating cancer and most people die of the side effects, because they were not well managed. In India,Uk and US,stage 4 cancer is well treated and managed. The people there come out being cancer free, but in nigeria, even stage two cancer are not managed well and the people end up dying. The facilities and equipments are found in one hospital or two all over the nation and people travel miles to get the treatment. The queue is alarming and most times the machines break down.If something is not down now,in some years time,I wonder what will be our fate.
