Cbn Investment In Afc: What Next For Soludo? by obiem(m): 3:17pm On Jul 23, 2008
Yesterday, the panel constituted by the attorney general of the federation, Michael Aaondakaa submitted it's report on the probe of the investment of 423 milion dollars in the African Finance Corporation by the Central Bank of Nigeria under incumbent governor, Chukwuma Soludo. The presidency would be licking it's lips after this and what action should be taken for/ against the prof who founded this corporation and in turn churned this massive investment into it. Whatever the intention is/was to me looked good until late.
My honest view is and will still be is that Soludo who has marked a niche for himself in the CBN and indeed Nigeria by ensuring that the days of failed banks are sure over, should have read the writing on the wall when his deputy, Shamsudeen Usman was appointed as minister of finance. For me, it that action was the turning point in the turn of events that would follow i.e Redenomination policy and of late this. It remains to be seen how the findings would be carried out.

are you serious?

Banks and like everything else in life also fail or die. in US alone about 47banks have failed this year.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation reported last week that banks in Colorado, Florida and Texas, with assets totaling more than $263 million, have failed recently, bringing the number of failures this year to 47.

Nigeria has recovered the MONEY illegal taken by Soludo to this AFC. We are waiting to get the interest back.

EFFORTS by the Federal Government to unravel the circumstances leading to Nigeria's multi-million dollar investment in Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) may have begun to record some success as the presidential committee set up to investigate the agency's affairs yesterday disclosed that it had recovered the sum of $462,923 million invested in it by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Nigeria has been preaching privatisation so CBN or FG has no business investing in AFC.
If soludo is serious let him talk to the banks, oil companies and OBJ to invest in it and not some sudo-financial vehicle to siphon our money.

Soludo should just honourably resign. He has lost favour with the powers that be.
