Nigerian Tailors & Disappointment: Work Hazard Or Laziness?

Since I was born, now I'm getting old, I've never given a local fashion designer (tailor) a material and had the clothing delivered on time without one or two stories. What's your experience with them? Is it the nature of the work or are most of them lazy?

It is the Nigerian greed business mentality, take all the jobs even if you can finish them, look for a way to manage. And for some when their customers expand, they refuse to expand their capacity so as to make more money and eventually the customers are at the receiving end.

Lying . . One core ethic u must learn to be a tailor. Tailors can lie,, Chai!!. When i was in primary school,My tailor asked me to come for ny uniform on Monday morning. i went on Sunday evenin to remind him, he assured me he's almost done with it, just to fix the button. I hardly slept cos i was happy i was going to put on a new uniform to school the following morning #U know that kind feeling now. In short, the following morning, i went home to meet the tailor, followed him to shop,,only to realize he didn't know where he put the pieces of the clotH. Mheeen, i was mad . I actually didn't go to school that day. .my Expectation was Cut short then.. . Since then, i stopped believing tailors.

They are lazy.
And Nigerians are used to their excuses.
I've heard of one or two tailors who got severely beaten when they messed up some army officers wives materials sha...

Re: Why Are Nigerian Tailors So Unreliable? by Nobody: 1:33pm On Nov 14, 2014
Tailors are Optimistic people...

If a tailor tell yu say "Come on Thursday" when you give am cloth on Tuesday, My broda, find anada tailor... Y? Him go either disappoint odas for you which means say, one day, him go disappoint you...

Some tailors are practical epistles of the scripture, All Liars shall go to hell...

You see his shop full of clothes and you ask him...

Me: Baba Mutiu, when my cloth go ready?
Him: Tomorrow, tomorrow... by evening... around 5PM...If I hear...

Check His Mind...

Reply just to console you... You blind? You no dey see work wey dey ground?

Blame it on the situation of things grin
They take on more than they can sew cos of the extra cash undecided

Best advice, want to use your cloth in December, tell them it should be ready by June and you'll get it by Sept/Oct...
Right on time for your occassion grin

GREED! They keep taking clothes from customers, hoping they'll find time to sew it. Unfortunately, they never meet up.

They are the same everywhere...unreliable and full of excuses for their disappointments.
