A.P.C: The Not- So- Smart Party by MyBarca: 1:38am On Mar 07, 2015
For the All Progressive Congress (APC), their Presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari, and their cult followers cum supporters, the 2015 Presidential poll has been won and lost with General Buhari waiting for his anointing on March 28. To them, May 29 is their destined day of coronation, which they are preparing to celebrate on a high note. Make no mistake, Chieftains and fans of the party have repeatedly boasted of electoral victory come March 30 result announcment. The Party Leader Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday 17, February was so emphatic when he said “APC has won the elections, except they rig on the other side.” In fact, they are so used to seeing themselves as the de-facto incoming government that they won’t mince word in opposing and verbally attacking citizens and well-wishers with contrary views. They are so confident that they have already planned to form a government whether a legitimate one or an alternative one. One begins to wonder whether they have “legitimate” electoral acceptability or They are just trying to give themselves something to hope on.

2015 Election and APC
The APC, their Candidate Buhari and their supporters have conditioned themselves with the belief that Nigerians will elect their candidate SIMPLY because they feel the incumbent has not done as expected and has goofed on few occasions. While I agree with the APC that President Jonathan goofed on few occasions, it amounts to political quackery to think that electorates will be forced to bring to power a party that has not shown leadership at the various levels they control (i.e state and Local Government level). It also amount to self-deceit for the party to assume that the electorates are willing to bring to power a party whose members are filled with failed politicians from both the PDP and the opposition since 1999. It also amount to self-misdirection for a party and her candidate to assume that Nigerians are not interested in pertinent issues. The APC has repeatedly accused President Goodluck Jonathan of having a pro-corrupt body language, but the same APC in their own wisdom has turned a blind eye to the numerous allegations against their leader Bola Tinubu which bothers on enriching himself at the expense of the Lagos indigens and residents, APC is yet to call for his investigation and prosecution. A group known as The True Face of Lagos in 2009 sent petition to the Lagos State House against APC Governor Fashola, which bothers on corruption. Fashola and Tinubu settled, the LSHA swept the petition under the rug. APC never called for thorough investigation. APC accused Jonathan of being insensitive for buying extra Presidential jet, but said nothing with respect to the Private Jet bought by APC Governor Amaechi with Rivers State funds. In contrast to President Jonathan, Amaechi registered the said Jet as a privately owned. We are yet to hear APC call on the government to investigate and prosecute APC Chieftain Atiku Abubakar and Navigator Obasanjo that were indicted by the Senate for the diversion of PTDF money.

The Buhari Question
The APC Presidential Candidate Muhammadu Buhari is not left out in this double standard. As Head of State in 1984, he jailed Ambrose Ali for donating N300,000 to his party as Governor of old Bendel State. Ironically, the same General Buhari in January received a Presidential Campaign bus from Imo State Governor Okorocha, with smiles on his face. The bus is estimated to worth 50 Million Naira

Their Cover
The APC as a party with their fans is ready to shout “PROPAGANDA” whenever issues that is unfavorable is raised against them. Whenever they can't hold to an argument, they will shout “Go To Court”. When you go to court, they will shout “PDP and GEJ are bribing people to go to court”. They will also shout “PDP and Jonathan have bought a judge to deliver lawsuits against the APC”. This does not include the vile, bitterness and venom that they are ready to give anybody with dissenting views.

Jonathan More Prepared and Favoured
While the PDP candidate President Goodluck Jonathan is touring the whole Federation, meeting with religious leaders, traditional leaders, pressure groups, the youths, opinion formers and leaders, to get endorsements and also reach out to the grass-root who forms the legitimate electorates, the APC Candidate was busy holidaying in London. Posting pictures with Tony Blair (who has no electoral value as long as Nigeria election is concerned). His supporters and party also took to social media jubilation just because he delivered a speech in London, and to audience without PVCs/TVCs. One begins to wonder whether the average electorate in the rural areas is concerned about what goes on in a Chatham House that is in London. In the South West region, the PDP/Jonathan has secured the endorsement of Afenifere, O’odua Peoples Congress, the Accord Party (which is formidable in Oyo State), The Social Democratic Party, which has his strength in Ogun and Oyo States and the darkhorse Labour Party. The APC has also been shouting and accusing eminent Nigerians and clergy men of being bribed. They accused Pastors, Traditional rulers in the North and South, they accused youths (bloggers) and are ready to accuse anyone that leaves their camp. These acts unknown to them further alienate prospective electorates from them. One of their timeline is “Nigerians minds are made up”, but they won’t tell you when they went to the streets to ask Nigerians whether or not they have made up their mind for Buhari and APC. To them, whatever they think and feel irrespective of its logic- whether rational or warped is irrelevant. As long as “#TheyHaveDecided”, Nigerians have automatically decided. The latest of their ignorant celebration is the return of Buhari from his rest in London. One begins to wonder whether these people understand what it means to really influence electorates and not just assume on behalf of the electorates. AIT at present is running a documentary on their leader, which is embarrassing and damaging to their already damaged electoral misfortune. While they come online to shout propaganda, Nigerians are watching in their homes, and opinions are being shaped(their admittance or otherwise is irrelevant)

So far, the APC has not shown anything worthy of our thumb other that launching both legitimate and illegitimate media attacks on President Goodluck Jonathan and of recent his wife. If the APC insist that Nigerians minds are made up, I have to tell them that Nigerians minds are made up to reject fraudulent broom wavers at the polls. However, we shall all meet at the polling booths to iron that out.

Finally, my sincere advice to the APC is that they should be the change they preach. If they are not ready to embrace change themselves, they should forget about coming to power to “change” the system- whether in 2015, 2019 or 2043, because #NeverAgain shall Nigerians fall for propaganda.

May God Bless Nigeria

EDUCATION:
Young Bola Ahmed Tinubu studied in Chicago State University, Illinois, graduating with honours in 1979 and earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Accounting and Management). Throughout his undergraduate years, young Bola was on the Dean’s List and was honoured with the Outstanding Student’s Award, the University Scholar’s Award and the Certificate of Merit in Accounting and Finance. He was also awarded the prestigious Sumna cum laude for scoring 3.54 out of possible 4.0 GP. With his successful academic profile, young Bola contested and won his first political election as the President of the Accounting Society of the institution in his final year at the University.

PRIVATE SERVICE:
Upon graduation with honours and several awards, Bola Tinubu cut his professional teeth at the American-based Arthur Anderson, Deloitte Haskins and Sells (now called Deloitte Haskins and Touche) and GTE Service Corporation - the largest Communication and Utility Company in the United States of America.

On his return to Nigeria and with his international experience in Financial Management, young Bola joined Mobil Producing Nigeria as a Senior Auditor, He rose to become the Treasurer of Mobil Producing Nigeria before his voluntary retirement.

ENTRY INTO PUBLIC SERVICE:
SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY FOUNDING MEMBER
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu opted fully for public service in exchange for his lucrative job at Mobil. His first foray into active politics was as a founding member of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP).
ELECTED SENATOR
In 1992, he was elected as an Honourable Senator of the Federal Republic Nigeria to represent Lagos West Senatorial District. At the National Assembly, he distinguished himself as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Finance, Appropriation and Currency - a foremost committee of the Senate.
NADECO AND JUNE 12
With the annulment of the June 12, 1993 Nigerian Presidential Election and the consequent fresh militarization of the Nigerian politics, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu became a founding member of the famous pro-democracy group, the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) which, for several years, engaged the military for the very soul of Nigeria. Subsequently, Bola Tinubu suffered many arrests and detention, harassment and constant threats to his life forcing him to flee Nigeria for his personal safety. He, however, did not give up the struggle as he joined NADECO abroad to continue the agitation for a restoration of democratic governance and the rule in the country.
ELECTED GOVERNOR OF LAGOS STATE, 1999-2007
In 1998, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Nigeria to heed a call for all Nigerians to join in the National Reconciliation and Development. A year later, he began his two-term public service as an elected Executive Governor of Lagos State on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD).
ACHIEVEMENT IN OFFICE AS LAGOS STATE GOVERNOR:
1. INTERNAL REVENUE: From N600m/Month in 1999 to N8.2b/mth in 2007
When Colonel Mohammed Marwa assumed office as Governor of Lagos State, the state’s Internally Generated Revenue was about N300 million monthly. The Marwa Administration then engaged the services of the Adekanola Tax Consultancy firm, an initiative that helped to raise the state’s Internally Generated Revenue to N600 million monthly as at 1999. The engagement of the Alpha Beta Tax Consultancy firm after due process was an initiative that paid off handsomely helping to raise the Internally Generated Revenue of Lagos State from N600 million per month in 1999 to a monthly average of N5.025 billion in 2006 and peaking at between N7 billion and N8.2 billion monthly as at March 2007.

N/B: Alpha Beta was not involved in actual collection of revenue. It only provided the technical expertise and sophisticated technological back up for more effective revenue monitoring and blockage of sources of revenue leakages and fraud. One radical measure taken in this regard, for instance, was the introduction of the Electronic Banking System/Revenue Collection Monitoring Project (EBS/RCM), which enabled the utilization of high level technology to create a robust data base of tax payers, eliminate ghost workers, plug loop holes of revenue leakage and enhance revenue performance by partnering with the private sector to ensure more effective monitoring of collected revenue.
LAGOS STATE INVESTMENTS UNDER TINUBU'S WATCH
Tinubu Administration equally continued to strengthen the state’s investment portfolio through:
1. Ibile Holdings Limited (IHL)- Thus, as at March 2007, Ibile Holdings Portfolio of equities had a market value of N11.46 billion. Through IHL, the state invested N3.84 billion in Celtel (formerly Vmobile/Econet) in 2003 and by the time she divested from the company in 2007, Lagos State had reaped a dividend of N19 billion in four years. Also through IBH the Administration invested N11 billion in the state’s LAGBUS mass Bus Transit Project with N6.5 billion going into the acquisition of brand new Marco polo buses and N4.5 billion into the provision of infrastructure and maintenance facility for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system that is today a phenomenal success story

2. Lagos Building and Investment Company (LBIC)- The Administration increased the share capital of the Lagos Building and Investing Company (LBIC) from N100 million to N500 million to enhance its capacity to be an effective player in the modern mortgage business

3. Lagos State Assurance Company (LASACO). . The administration also supported the Lagos State Assurance Company (LASACO) with over N1 billion to meet the Central Bank of Nigeria’s directive on the re-capitalization of insurance companies.

INFRASTRUCTURE
1. HOUSING:- The administration came to power in 1999 and promised 10,000 Housing Scheme for Lagosians. This he achieved and even exceeded the 10,000 housing as promised with the provision of Millennium Houses through the LSDPC.
- Provision of infrastructure in newly constructed housing Estates such as Abraham Adesanya housing Scheme, Ajah, Oba Adeyinka Oyekan housing scheme, Lekki, Ikeja GRA housing scheme, Lekki 1 Millenium Housing Scheme, Ayangburen Housing Scheme, Ikorodu, Gbagada Housing scheme, as well as massive rural electrification and micro water projects

Rather than tackle them, some of you in your usual manner shouts Tinubu(probably in acceptance of guilt). Let me be very clear for the record that Tinubu recorded some achievement as Governor But turned around to convert them to his personal belongings. I believe my position is clearly spelt out.
