How I was beaten black and blue by a junior officer – Army major
From PAUL ORUDE, Bauchi Thursday, April 30, 2009

A major in the Nigerian Army, Major Abubakar Danladi has sensationally revealed how he was beaten and humiliated by a Lieutenant (a junior officer), who employed the services of thugs to deal with him.

He said that in the process, another soldier, a private, who accompanied him (Major) at the time of the incident, was also beaten to pulp.

Danladi, who said the incident, happened at Ladipo Market in Lagos, said although he was in mufti while the soldier, a private was in uniform; he said if not for his Identity Card, which he later presented, the Lieutenant would have snuffed life out of him.

He said that the officer and the thugs who obeyed his orders kept pounding him and the soldier with blows which made the soldier sustain injuries on his face with his mouth bleeding as a result of blows, even as he was left with a swollen head.

Danladi, who said the incident was a sad development and an indication of the collapse of discipline in the Army, said they could have been beaten to death if not for the prompt intervention of some traders and concerned citizens who pleaded with the soldiers and allowed reason to prevail.

Hear him: “It was on March 19 when this happened. I was at Ladipo market when one Lieutenant called A.A drove his car into the Ladipo spare parts market.

“I was informed that he does escort duty for the traders at the market which is known to be a congested market in Lagos.

“I was wearing mufti that day. This Lieutenant packed his car on the centre of a little passage of the road and all efforts to make him move it from the road for the traffic behind to clear failed.

“That was when I decided to intervene to plead with him to move his car. But he was angered by my action and for daring to challenge him, he suddenly pounced on me and the soldier.

“I told him that I was his senior and brought out my ID and asked him to show me his ID Card and he was attempting to, due to the congestion nature of the market he couldn’t.

“I had called a soldier, a private and told him to tell the Lieutenant to pack and identify himself, the Lt refused to identify himself; instead he started beating the soldier who is wearing an army uniform.

“When I wanted to intervene, he punched me on the face and was shouting that I was not an army officer, that I was not a Major, that I was fake.

“With the nature of Ladipo and the crowd, more than 100 thugs and traders joined him and started beating me and the soldier in army uniform.

“He even went to the Oshodi Barracks and called some Army men with Navy, where in his presence, the soldiers and the Navy ratings that followed continued beating us amidst explanation.

“It is really sad to have experience this thing, it is really very disheartening. I think it can destroy the good image and discipline of the military and also capable of discouraging interested civilians who want to join the military from doing so.”

Well, what goes around, comes around. There is nothing disciplined about our so called army. There are just a bunch of glorified thugs in uniform with a license to kill.Same goes for the navy, airforce and police. They are all the same thing. All this talk of discipline is all BS.Some months ago, a lady got beaten to a pulp and stripped naked. It was shown all over the news and this was done at the command of a rear admiral.Imagine that, A REAR ADMIRAL.If this can be done by a top officer who should know better, imagine the mentality of the juniors. The forces we have believe they are higher than everyone else and i can bet that this "unfortunate" officer has at one time or the other, caused sorrow and pain to a few others, so its tit for tat.Make dem kill themselves. They are filth.
