The routine of data capturing for most of African research and non-research data based organizations are still paper based. Consequently, the quality of data in Africa is very poor due to limitations in reducing the errors that are associated with the use of paper questionnaire. These errors include those perpetrated by the interviewers who administer the questionnaires and those by the data managers in the process of recording the information captured with the questionnaire.
However, to curtail this great challenge, a Computer Assisted Personal Interviews (CAPI) procedure could be subscribed to in aiding the capture, transportation and processing of data. The role of the paper questionnaire could easily be replaced by computer-based questionnaire that is scripted on Android devices which would allow interviewers to carry the android devices with them whenever they are going to the field rather than the conventional paper questionnaire.
