Most health practitioners argue that drinking warm or hot water helps improves a person’s health. Though there is little or no scientific research to support the benefits one can derive from drinking hot water.
Drinking sufficient amount of water can help support skin, muscle, and joint health. Also, water helps the cells of the body to fight off infections and absorb nutrients. So, drinking a few glasses of warm or sipping on hot water daily might offer even greater health benefits.

8 Health Benefits of Drinking Hot Water.

Body detoxification
Natural health experts claim hot water helps to detoxify the body. Hot water raises the body temperature of a person, leading to sweating. Sweating helps to clean pores and to expel toxins from the body.

Improved circulation
Hot water is a vasodilator which expands the blood vessels, thereby improving circulation. This can cause the muscle to relax and reduce pain. Researchers are yet to establish a connection between hot water and constant improvements in circulation. Even brief improvements in circulation can support better blood flow to muscles and organs.

Fighting colds and improving sinus health
Hot water can help to get rid of colds since heat applied to the sinuses can alleviate pressure caused by colds and nasal allergies. Drinking hot water helps unclog the sinuses and help free and quick movement of mucous.

Reduced pain
Hot water improves circulation and blood flow, especially to injured muscles. No research has linked the consumption of hot water to pain relief. But some people regularly use heat packs and hot water bottles to ease pain and discomfort. Drinking hot or warm water may help relief internal pains, including menstrual cramps and pains.

Healthier digestion
Most of the water consumed through food and drinking is mostly absorbed by the small intestine, particularly when a person does not drink enough water. This can lead to dehydration and constipation.

Chronic dehydration can cause chronic constipation which makes bowel movements painful and may cause other problems like bloating and hemorrhoids.

Consuming hot water helps to break down food faster than drinking cold or even warm water. Hot water helps to reduce the risk of constipation by supporting regular bowel movements.

Reduced stress
A cup of hot or warm water may help ease stress and anxiety. Results from a recent research confirmed that drinking hot liquids, such as tea and coffee, could lower stress and ease anxiety.

Weight loss
Drinking sufficient amount of water can help a person lose weight. Though drinking water increases the feelings of fullness, but it helps the body absorb nutrients and flushes out waste.

A 2003 study found that swapping from drinking cold water to hot water increases weight loss. Researchers found that drinking 500 ml of water before a meal increased metabolism by 30 percent.

Encouraging consumption of coffee and tea
When mixed with coffee or tea, hot or warm water offers extra benefits. When taken in moderate quantities, coffee and caffeinated teas can be beneficial to the body. However, taking it in excessive quantities can lead to dehydration.

Risk of Drinking Hot Water
The main danger of drinking hot water is risk of being burned, this is avoidable. Water that is warm to the touch on a fingertip may still burn the tongue or throat. Avoid drinking water that is near boiling temperature. Always test a small sip before taking a gulp.

Drinking caffeinated coffee or tea may cause a person to become overcaffeinated or jittery. Prevented this by reducing the cups of coffee or tea consumed, or simply replacing caffeinated drinks with warm or hot water.
