Following the defection of former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), his spokesperson, Binta Spikin, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will not win in Kano State in the 2019 general election.

She said this to PREMIUM TIMES while reacting to Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi’s comment on Mr Buhari’s chances.

According to Punch Newspaper, Mr Amaechi had on Friday said Mr Buhari will win in Sokoto, Kano and Bauchi States in the 2019 general elections even if he was taken to the states “on a sick bed”.

Mr Amaechi also said the governors of Sokoto and Kwara states, Aminu Tambuwal and Abdulfatah Ahmed, will leave the APC.

“On those that defected at the House of Representatives and Senate, where do they come from? They come from areas that the President is comfortable. Do you honestly believe that the President will lose election in Sokoto? We are not God, but it’s one of his comfort zones,” the Punch quoted the minister as saying.

Mr Amaechi heads Mr Buhari’s 2019 campaign organisation.

“If you bring the President on a sick bed to Bauchi and Kano, he will win and he has never lost election in Bauchi. But that is a bit arrogant on our side; we should not underestimate them,” he said.

In her response, Mrs Spikin said Mr Kwankwaso’s defection will not only affect the votes in Kano State but has brought down the APC.

“I think his defection will greatly affect the votes in 2019. His defection will not only affect the chances of the APC in Kano, his defection has brought down APC.

“If you look across Nigeria today, not Kano alone, there’s nowhere in Nigeria that you don’t have the presence of Kwankwasiyya (supporters of Mr Kwankwaso).

“Kano is his home base and he is well grounded in Kano. Even without the government, he had a 60 percent of the voters, so what do you think will happen now that he has joined forces with people like Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau?” she said.

She further said the government needs to know that there is a path that is blocked “even if you fight it.”

“Even if the government puts whatever in place, there is no way President Buhari will win in Kano, there’s no way.”

When asked if Mr Kwankwaso stands a chance of winning the 2019 general election should he officially declare his ambition to run for presidency, she simply said, “He stands a very good chance to win Buhari. We are covered.”

Mr Kwankwaso was one of the 15 senators who defected from the APC on Tuesday.

In his reaction, the governor of the state, Abdullahi Ganduje, had said the mass defection will not affect the party’s chances politically.

He also said Mr Kwankwaso’s exit will not be felt in the state: “I want you to go and study the situation on ground in Kano, his (Kwankwaso) defection does not change the political mood in the state. Nobody cares to be disturbed by their action,” Mr Ganduje said.

Mr Kwankwaso has been locked in a fierce political confrontation with Mr Ganduje. Over the past two years, several attacks and reprisal attacks between the supporters of the two politicians have been reported.

Kwankwaso who couldn't win his reelection in Kano in 2003 after his first term in 1999 is threatening Buhari. Lol

Buhari single-handedly brought an unknown Shekarau to defeat Kwankwaso in 2003. Kwankwaso had to align himself with Buhari in 2011 by printing his pictures alongside that of Buhari on his posters for him to win the election.

Buhari has never lost election in Kano State. Even when PDP rigged the polls (even the late Yar'adua confirmed that) in 2007, they couldn't still win Kano State then.

In 2011, Buhari even defeated a sitting Governor Shekarau in his own State of Kano. GEJ came a distant third in Kano then. Lest i forget, CPC was formed less than five months to the general elections yet he still had such number of votes in Kano and the entire Northwest plus four States in the Northeast.

Kwankwaso should not deceive himself. A bedridden Buhari would defeat a combined PDP candidacy of Atiku/Kwankwaso/Tambuwal/Saraki/Makarfi/Lamido/Dankwambo in Kano State.

The game of politics has to do with numbers, the earlier the Apc know this, the better for them ahead of 2019, otherwise the repeat of 2015 elections is the other of the day!!

Zombies will always be quick to remind us that buhari got 12m votes in 2011 but forgot that many people then believed he had something to offer, which they now understand to be deception.
Buhari without rigging will not get up to 12m votes come 2019.

It seems you don't know who Kwankwaso is. He lost in 2003 election because of his staunch support for Obasanjo, a Christian, the opposition headed by Buhari's APP pulled both the tribal and religious card and OBJ rewarded
him with Defence Minister.

In 2011, he won re-election with just 62k votes. It was at that point he started building the Kwankwasiyya movement aggressively.

Buhari single-handedly brought an unknown Shekarau to defeat Kwankwaso in 2003. Kwankwaso had to align himself with Buhari in 2011 by printing his pictures alongside that of Buhari on his posters for him to win the election.
Buhari was only popular because of his staunch support for Sharia and Kano is Pro-sharia. Kwankwanso lost because of his support for Obasanjo who repeatedly worked against Sharia.

Buhari didn't make Shekarau Governor, he only rode on the existing sentiment against Kwankwanso then.

You forgot to add how Shekarau pursued Buhari from ANPP.

Unblockable:

Buhari has never lost election in Kano State. Even when PDP rigged the polls (even the late Yar'adua confirmed that) in 2007, they couldn't still win Kano State then.
He won in 2007 because he had Shekarau as Governor, in 2011 the NEF backed him against a Christian candidate (GEJ) and in 2015 he won Kano because of Kwankwaso.

Ganduje can't stand Kwankwaso + Shekarau combo in 2019.

Unblockable:

In 2011, Buhari even defeated a sitting Governor Shekarau in his own State of Kano. GEJ came a distant third in Kano then. Lest i forget, CPC was formed less than five months to the general elections yet he still had such number of votes in Kano and the entire Northwest plus four States in the Northeast.
In 2011, the North saw GEJ as a common enemy and adopted Buhari as a consensus candidate which Shekarau rebelled against, so the people voted against him in the North and Kwankwanso took advantage of that to become Governor under PDP with just 62k votes.

If Buhari is that strong in Kano on his own why didn't he win the Kano Governorship election for his boy Lawan Jafaru?

The only time he ran against Shekarau, Kwankwaso, he got only 7.2% of the total votes. He only won Kano in the Presidential election because of the reason I already mention above.

Unblockable:

Kwankwaso should not deceive himself. A bedridden Buhari would defeat a combined PDP candidacy of Atiku/Kwankwaso/Tambuwal/Saraki/Makarfi/Lamido/Dankwambo in Kano State.
Only Kwankwanso + Shekarau can clip his wings. The only time he went heads on against the two simultaneously, he left Kano with only 7.2%.

Saraki will bury him in Kwara. Tambuwal in Sokoto and Atiku in the entire NE with Danjuma.

Buhari only won because of the defection of nPDP, Atiku, not even Tinubu.

Remove the 5 Governors that defected, the upset that happened in the Middle belt, a merger of CPC and CAN wouldn't have won the election.

Example:

In 2007, ANPP + ACN = 9 Million
PDP = 25 Million

2011, CPC + ACN = 15 Million
PDP = 22 Million

But in 2015 even with the mergers, the upsets in the Middle belt and the nPDP defection, he only won with 3 million votes.

So if you discount all these, you would see a merger of just CPC + CAN wouldn't have won the 2015 election.

Because the only time he went heads on against Kwankwaso and Shekarau was during the 2011 Kano Governorship election and his ward Lawan Jafaru got a pitiable 7.2% of the votes.

He only won the Presidential against Shekarau because Kwankwaso and NEF supported him against Shekarau with 59%.

For you to even still quite the results of 2007 election shows you're biased. Even Yar'adua confirmed that the election was rigged in 2007. Still, Buhari was able to sweep the whole of Kano.

Buhari doesn't need the support of the Northern elites for him to win election in the North. He's a movement in the Northern region.

You claimed in the other thread that Saraki would deliver Kwara State for PDP with a margin of 500k which would thwart that of the Southwestern APC votes. That's laughable. As it stands now, Buhari cannot still win 11 out of the 13 core Northern State convincingly. Where was Atiku in 2007 when Buhari got all those votes? Atiku whose total votes at the APC primaries were nearly outnumbered by the void votes?

Shekarau pursued Buhari outta ANPP? Lol. When Buhari discovered he was gonna contest against him, he had to leave the party for him to avoid the imminent division that would see some party members aligning themselves with PDP. Why couldn't Shekarau win even an ANPP State back then in 2011? Buhari swept about eleven States in the North then.

BTW, why didn't you reply me on the other thread? Are you scared of setting the record straight?
