Seems to be taking forever. Almost 8 years. Will the longest war in history ever come to an end?

Some people have even forgotten that there's a war ongoing in Syria.

The Syrian war will end as soon as the Russians, Americans, and Iranians decide it will end. It is not so much a civil war, as it is a war between Shia and Sunni Muslims.

On the one side you have a sub-sect of Shia, led by Assad, on the other side the majority Syrians, the Sunnis led by everybody. In between, there are the Kurds, trying to find a place to call their own.
The Russians got what they wanted: a warm sea port in the Mediterranean sea; now, they must pay the piper.

Hezbollah is paying (nearly 2,000 killed thus far) Assad for all of his help over the years in cementing their takeover of Lebanon. Iran is doing its best to keep a close ally in power, continuing to support and train their western forces (Hezbollah) as best they can, and try to increase their influence in the region.

Assad is trying to survive.

ISIS is trying to survive.

The various Syrian forces are trying to get justice and revenge.

Arab states, Qatar, Saudis etc are doing their best to keep Iran in check and assert their power and influence.
Turkey hates Assad (they are Sunnis) and wants to make sure that the Kurdish people don’t have an independent state.

The Americans want to contain the Russians, the Iranians, and ISIS. No love for Assad either.

the war is already over, just that America can't just leave because they have already been defeated by the Russians as Assad is going nowhere. the moment America forget the shame and leave quietly all those so called FSA and co would bow for Assad.

Muslims war never ends, its a way of life, imagine if there are no Christian in Nigeria, Leah sharibu was forcefully worn a hijab just to cause Christian Muslim war by Islamic boko haram, but Christian s wouldn't shout blasfemy but pushing Christian s further may backfire one day and it will consume the fire starters they say No monopoly of violence. It will forever remain with the North

Nah Russia won... Not only did they keep control of Russia to prevent the gas pipeline that us wanted that started all this... They also got Qatar...

So Europe would always depend on Russia for gas

Next stop trans Sahara gas pipeline but China Russian partner control Niger where the gas must pass...

That explain Russia trying to get Nigeria by all means
