only el-zazaky and dasuki are being held without cause...

And i am unhappy with the president for that ...

But melaye belongs behind bars 100%

well the law should be no respecter of sentiments. whether you want him in jail or not doesn't mean anything. he has to be acquainted in a court of law before he can be thrown to jail....not after.

Who talked about jail?

The law allows Dino to be held without cause for 24hrs before he is charged to the court.....

He will have his day in court once he finished his theatrics...

Police have announced the next step they will take after Senator Dino Melaye surrendered himself to them.

Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Jimoh Moshood, revealed what the police were planning to do in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

The statement was issued shortly after Senator Dino Melaye surrendered to the Police Investigation Team at his residence at about 3:00pm.

He was wanted by the police for alleged criminal conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide, which he reportedly committed on July 19, 2018.

“Senator Dino Melaye and his armed thugs attacked police personnel, shot and wounded SGT Danjuma Saliu on stop and search duty along Aiyetoro Gbede, Mopa Road in Kogi State,” Moshood said.

“The Police Officer, Sgt. Danjuma Saliu, is yet to recover from the gunshot injury he sustained during the attack and still under intensive medical care in the hospital.”

The police spokesman said the lawmaker has since surrendered to the force and has been taken into custody for investigation.

He added that Senator Melaye was subsequently taken to the Police Hospital in Abuja for medical attention and in stable condition.

On the next step to take, Moshood said an investigation into the alleged crimes against the senator was ongoing and the case would be taken to court on completion of the investigation.

He disclosed further that Senator Melaye surrendered to the Police Investigation Team after an eight-day siege on his residence since December 28, 2018.

According to him, the police personnel arrived the residence of the lawmaker with a duly obtained Warrant of Arrest to effect his arrest to answer to the allegations against him being investigated by the Kogi State Police Command.

“Senator Dino Melaye on sighting the police team locked up himself in the building to evade arrest,” the Force spokesman alleged.

“The Warrant of Arrest was obtained after Senator Dino Melaye refused to honour police invitation dated July 23, 2018, signed by the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command addressed to the Clerk, National Assembly, Abuja, inviting Senator Dino Melaye to report on July 26, 2018 at 1100Hrs at the Kogi State Police Command, CIID, Lokoja to answer to a case of Criminal Conspiracy and Attempted Culpable Homicide against him under investigation in the Kogi State Police Command.”

“The Police Investigation Team cordoned off the building and continued to be in wait for eight days for Senator Dino Melaye to obey the law and surrender himself for arrest,” Moshood added.

“While the Police Investigation Team was waiting, Senator Dino Melaye granted an interview monitored on television stations that he was not in Abuja.

“This claim eventually was discovered to be completely false as Senator Dino Melaye surrendered to the waiting Police Investigation Team today (Friday) at his residence in Abuja at about 1500hrs.”

A lot of issues on ground....with little or no serious attention from the Nigeria security agents.

I have never being a fan of politics...but the police force taking part in it publicly like this..making it the most serious case amongst others means Nigeria has taken 10steps backwards. For a country that is finding it hard to grow it is nothing but great sadness.

For the tribalistic ones..keep it up..I wonder what you have gained from others suffering. awon oloshi

Where is proof. The police dont invite people that has comitted crime, they simply go for arrest.

If tomorrow u are accused of a crime wouldn't it be proper for them to provide evidence or @least present a search warrant before searching your house and not hurt your house-hold unless he or she is proven to be a pataker of the crime or disobey the law...all this and more are fruits of democracy which is just a "word" in our Country. So shut the f"""k up n go read up your secondary school government note

How will investigation be carried out when the prime suspect refused to show up for questioning? Is he above the law? Let's always be reasonable when making comments on social media platforms.

Comprehension is more than a topic in English language studies.
To help you, he was invited for same investigation you mentioned but he refused hence reason for the arrest.

A suspect can be invited for investigation but when he refuses to honour it, he can be arrested. Hope you now understand?
Re: Police Reveal Next Move After Dino Melaye Surrenders by Wolbriel: 7:28pm On Jan 05, 2019
Invited, he refused the civil invitation. They came, he went into hiding. While they were waiting, he lied all in an effort to evade arrest. The NASS has no honour, no shame. The evil men do live after them.
Jonathan:

Shut up your mouth there!
Why didn’t he honour police invitation when he was invited months ago ?

What do you understand by investigation? How can it be complete without hearing Sen. Dino own side of the story. They are right by saying investigation is ongoing. because of guiltiness Sent. Dino refused to honor the invitation since June 2018. Is he above the law? We should stop encouraging impunity in this nation. These politicians don't care about us but their pockets. Has he ever complain to us how they share our national cake? Only releasing music tracks and displaying of exotic cars that most average Nigerians can't afford in his life time.
