When God gives you a vision and a promise, He expects you to get instructions of how it will be done from Him.

We must understand that the covenant of preservation, prosperity and security is interwoven with divine guidance.

God promised us good things but we have to listen to Him to direct us on how to receive these things.
When direction from the Lord is needed, Joshua will stand before Eleazar the Priest, who will use the Urim-one of the sacred lots cast before the Lord- to determine His will. This is how Joshua and the rest community of Isreal will determine everything they should do.

Numbers 27:21

And David inquired of the Lord was repeated severally in the bible emphasizing on how much David prioritize instructions.

One of the reasons David successfully ruled as a king is he never made a step without asking God for directions.

He knew when to stop, go , attack and retreat.

Thankfully, we have the HolySpirit in us so we don't need to wait long to consult for responses
My heart has heard you say, come and talk with me. And my heart responds, ' Lord i am coming'.. Psalm 27:8

God is asking you to come talk with Him. Commit your way to him
Your own ears will hear Him. Right behind you, a voice will say, This is the way you should go, whether to the left or to the right.

Isaiah 30:21.

God is always speaking, the question is are you listening?

What happens when we don't ask for instructions?
Without wise leadership, a nation fails. But victory is won through many advisers.

Prov 11:14

Many make costly mistakes in life as a result of lack of divine guidance. We dabble into relationships, business, careers without clarity of directon. God did not create us to live our life as a guessing game or have a 'whatever goes' attitude.

Divine direction will prevent us from avoidable pitfalls , regrets that could have been avoided, untimely death and lead us in the path of His promise.

That being said, how can we hear from God or know what He is saying pertaining a situation?

Ways you can obtain instructions from God includes:

1. Prayer.

Spend time in thanksgiving and supplications

The power of prayer can not be overemphasized. Anytime we desire to do something, the first step we take is to commit it to God through prayer. Yes, God knows our heart and our thoughts but He needs to hear it from us. He cannot force His way into our lives. We have to let Him come in to direct us.

2. Spend time in the word.

The word of God is light. And the presence of light casts out darkness. In His word is everything we need to live well and right.
All scripture is inspired by God, and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

2 Timothy 3:16

3. Be open minded to the HolySpirit humble yourself.
He leads the humble in doing right. Teaching them His way

Psalm 25:9.

The Holy-Spirit is available to us as God's children to teach us All things and we can only benefit from this when we humble ourselves and recognize His supremacy.

4. He will bring conversations, informations and opportunities your way.

God has limitless way of speaking to us. I cannot even exhaust it here. So i listed a few. It can even be a phone call from a friend or family related to what you are about to do. You can also see a tv commercial pointing in a direction.

5. He will also make impressions in your heart to nudge you in the right way.

You can be thinking about a particular matter and someone will call you out of the blues with an answer which fits directly to your rhoughts.

You might also be meditating on a business to start or a place to invest, probably as you go out, you see the sign board of a business or company stand out in your head.

There are various ways God speaks to us. We must not necessarily hear a loud voice from the sky. He uses things familiar to us, our day to day activities to speak.

6. God can also speak through dreams.

Our dreams are channels through which we can get revelations. Pay attention to your dreams and make sure you dissect your dreams for it to align with the word of God.

7. Be ready to be in full compliance wuth the Holy Spirit.

God cannot force you to obey Him, He can only instruct us then leave you to make our decision.

8. You can consult the pastor of your local church.

God can also speak to us through other believers and His custodians.

9. Maintain a joyful countenance.

A joyful spirit is a clear spirit. You cannot her the voice of the Spirit clearly when your heart is laden with the cares of this world, you will be ignorant to the voice of the Spirit.

Commit to inquring from God before you take any decisions no matter how inconsequential you think it is. Even something as minute as what you will eat. You can ask God for an instruction. He wants to hear and is ready to talk to you.

He is interested in knowing it from you. Check it out with God first. Make it a lifestyle to consult God in all you do and you will begin to enjoy the fruits of divine guidance.

Finally, ensure to test every voice by the word and discard any one in disagreement with the word. For example, God cannot tell you to go kill or fight someone when the word says otherwise.
