O. R. D. E. R!
The Senate President hit his gavel on the table as he spoke to the microphone... O. R. D. E. R! Things were going out of hand. The mace needs to be respected. It was a joint session for the lawmakers but the worse was about to unfold, the opposition leader was at the verge of smashing the golden mace on the speaker who was sitting next to the Senate President. In the same vein, a loyalist of the Speaker had just punched the face of honourable representing Rivers state. The show of shame was live on air and the whole world could see that the house was not in order despite the call for order by the president of the Senate...surely, he was a culprit in the plot that birthed the brouhaha.

Two months ago, patriots performed one of their civic rights. People voted to elect those who they think would move Nigeria forward. Of a truth, we are still far from ideal electioneering process but no one could deny the progress we have made so far. Every nation has the challenge which president Obama called, 'two-steps-forward-one-step-backward' motion. But even to make those two steps forward successfully, the elected few need to be called to order. And we need to shout into the speaker at top of our voices... O. R. D. E. R!!!

Dear president, if you have been made president, please be the president. It is an embarrassment for the nation and impersonation of your position and yourself, if some faceless and useless idiots stand as cabal and ruling the nation on your behalf for selfish interests. You need to be in charge and take advice from intelligent people regardless their party affiliation, religion or the region they belong to; our national identity comes first. Apart from Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Delta and Rivers, I doubt if many foreigners know any other states in Nigerian. So why are we dividing ourselves or why does the presidency think opinion or call to service must be based on where you came from?

We live in a nation where a senator owns fleet of exotic cars worth hundreds of millions and in his constituency lives numerous people in abject poverty...we say to you, O. R. D. E. R! Of course, a man deserves good, quality life if he earns legitimately without stealing or enforcing a law that would skyrocket his earning and then claimed that meagre addition to civil servants salary would lead to inflation.

The EFCC and SARS are still harassing citizens. Electricity is still not available and mindless power holding company would not stop dispatching crazy bills to people and fuelling generator set is expensive. Leaders, you need to put Nigeria in order before we call you to order.

Don't you think it's crazy for a security man in dubai to be earning more than a professor? And a member of the Parliament who has never moved any motion raking in millions monthly aside the ones he would steal through his community projects undone...'chai!'
An ancient philosophy says, IF YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN MUCH, MUCH IS REQUIRED FROM YOU.

If nothing is required we could all have voted for a teenager, right?! But what is required is not a child's play and the territory you are to govern is not a kids' play area. There's so much to do. The education needs reform, (Canadian prison can boast of better infrastructure than our universities), producing graduates who can't use microsoft Excel: Citizens can't live without employing vigilante to protect them: The escalator at the arrival wing of our busiest airport is still functioning like world war 2 locomotive engine train: electricity is still a challenge. The roads are still death traps: I doubt it if the shaky Ogbese narrow bridge has been done. You need to task yourselves to deliver what we need. The cabal, political parties and those godfathers' vote alone were not enough to put you in those positions which means you should be answerable to the people.

Right thinking and quality decision making is demanded. No one will remember you for the political gimmick you played but good policies that you rolled out. As you assume offices, I challenge you to write your names in the hearts of the people, that is the only place where it could last forever. Mandela did it in South Africa, and became yardstick for leaders after him. You are not expected to fix everything in four years; block unnecessary spending, stop programs that can not really push people out of poverty, fix electricity, education, security. One step at a time...we will get to where we belong.
