How much money did you contribute to any of the candidates - president, governor, senator, representative, assembly man, LGA chairman and councillor?
How much

The guy you quoted is right....and no, it isn't because I agree with him (Like and omenka is for APC, he is for PDP)

Nigeria has had the right kind of technocrats in office from time inmemorrial...and everytime they suggest the right thing...we don't listen to them

Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Ibe Kalichukwu and HRH the Emir of Kano have over the years suggested we remove fuel subsides so that investment would flow into the country leading to more refineries, etc...which would have knock on effects on the economy...and better growth. Plus the savings from removing subsidy could be used for other things.

But Nigerians want cheap fuel...even if it comes at the expense of economic development. So every year we throw 2 trillion naira down a bottomless pit in the name of ' subsidy'...money which goes into private pockets...and many of the recipeints smuggle fuel out of the country anyway...to sell at the higher prices obtainable in other West African countries.

So, even if we put the right people in charge, would we Nigerians listen.

In 2008...FRSC said you people should wear helmet when on motorcycle. Wise advice...which saves lives. (and yes, I can testify to that myself). But most Nigerians called FRSC names. In 2013, FRSC said check your tyres. Most Nigerians grumbled about it.

You don't want good leaders. You want someone who would give you money to chop. That is not the mark of good leadership. And that is why we have replaced PDP with their mirror image in APC.

The government needs to start detailing what exactly they are using these loans upon loans they keep collecting. There is no impact of these loans on the country. Stop mortgaging the future of Nigeria because you want to live a frivolous and vain life. Finance minister must explain in detail what this 2.5bn loan is for and why? Let the public scrutinize the details.

If it’s a loan to pay their bloated salaries and allowances then it’s time we think about disbanding the Federal House of Representatives and keep only the senate or vice versa.
Senate leader asked what is wrong with spending N5.5 billion on cars! grin

Okay...if we want to stop all this loan business , two things have to happen

1.Oil goes above $140 per barrel and stays there for the next five years (now looking likely since Trump and Khamenei are about to fight it out).

OR

2.We stop wasting N2 trillion on fuel subsidy, or underrecovery, or whatever...direct the money to railways, power and education, watch as investment flows into the country to build refineries, etc...,make NNPC private...and at the end of the day, our economy will flourish and we would become the one giving out loans.

Nigeria's problem is simple. We rely on oil too much. And this oil is not enough for us. Time we faced that fact, ended subsides, and used the money where it is needed...so that investment will build the stuff we need...and we can fund the educaiton and railways sector which would help the poor much better than some yeye subsidy payments to some cabal.

But apc ain't listening to good economic advice.

We are going to keep on taking loans because oil is not high enough in price to meet our needs...and because we are subsidising fuel for no good reason. 2 trillion naira annually would make a difference in educaiton, and railways, and even power.

To repeat...Nigeria needs oil above $140 per barrel to stop taking loans. Current oil prices is around $60-80. So, in practical terms we have to start saving money...and this means an end to fuel subsides.

Make NNPC private? That's a taboo ooo

He’s an idiot. The freedom of information act needs to be used fully with the Nigerian citizens demanding details of all expenditures. The NASS is becoming a burden. They are becoming too expensive to sustain and too arrogant too. Their wings need to be clipped and it’s only Nigerians that can clip it. Not the presidency because they will threaten.

When Atiku talked about privatising NNPC, a lot of people were saying he will sell all Nigerian assets.

Even this government was using it against him during campaign, and you expect the same government to go ahead and do what they kick against?
