Any above average local league players always leave the league to foreign clubs after a season or two, that explains why we don't have much local league players in eagles. Once you put on a good performance in the local scene, you move to abroad. Musa was the top scorer in local league before he moved, this mountain of fire striker few years ago also moved abroad after good performances, and so many more.

Hello, CHAN didn't just start. Which CHAN tournaments have local SE players ever put on a superlative performance that was seen to be above what we see with traditional SE. This isn't about getting knocked out by Togo alone, but about local based players aren't ever good enough because very few food ones among them always move abroad.

If you were a local based player and topped scorer chat this season, it would be apparent you would find foreign club following season and move. How can you ever think such league will be looked at when looking for national team players? Except few exceptional ones that may come once in a while like Sunday Mba, Enyeama, Adenugba etc. And like I argued, these players moved abroad almost immediately they got noticed. Goog players don't stay long in local league here.

I agree wit you to an extent. I don't actually agree that our locally groomed talents are at par with their foreign counterparts. A foreign groomed player is more technical, tactical, exposed, fit, knowledgeable in football than their Nigerian counterparts

Every country has talent in their leagues, no matter how small. But the fact is that every African country whose good players always move abroad has most or all their national team players from foreign clubs, except few countries like north africans and SA whose players don't flood abroad like us.

Yes, few that are good before moving abroad get call up, like Ezenwa, Etebo, Enyeama, Sunday Mba etc but the reality is that you can't have sizable number of local players in Nigerian national team because they rarely stay back home once they are good. It is a rare occasion when you have local players good enough for SE.

Can we still have local players in SE? Yes, but it can't come often since they don't stay at home. That's it.

We can't force mediocre home based players on national team coach because we want to promote local league players when in reality, many of them would have moved abroad if they are truly that good enough.

Take it or leave it, abroad is where better talents are. Local talents also eye abroad, so how can you now think the best talents will now be found in local league? This isn't underage category but senior national team

And isn't the very good players that find foreign clubs? Do you think all local based players would stay in Nigeria if they receive foreign offers?
What keeps them still in naija is that many of them are yet to prove how good they are on consistent basis, say like 2-3 seasons, and foreign clubs are yet to come for them. If they are good enough or put in just a lil above average performance like Musa, Odeh, Sunday MBA, Etebo etc, foreign clubs will come for them.

Local league isn't where to look for talent for National teams. It is not only in Nigeria, every African country with large proportion of their country men playing outside always recruit from foreign clubs into their national teams. Cote divoire do it, many of their boys are foreign based, they even brought Zaha into the team despite plating for English youth team before.

I agree with you. Drogba, Eeto, Toure, Okocha, KANU, Weah, Diouf and others were all playing local leagues even at the very tops of their career forms. Good players are mostly found in local leagues, only the bad players move to Europe and foreign clubs.
