This is now the favourite saying of most Politicians outside the PDP these days. I think we may see the achievement of previously lacking maturity that will see a union of all forces for the purpose of ridding Nigeria of the evil that is the PDP. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/News/Metro/Politics/5653845-146/nigerians_are_tired_of_pdp_says.cspNigerians are tired of PDP, says Shekarau

The governor, who was in Benin City on a condolence visit to his Edo State counterpart, Adams Oshiomhole, who lost his wife, Clara, to breast cancer last week, said instead of moving Nigeria forward, the PDP’s 12 years in government drew Nigeria backwards.
Mr. Shekarau said from all indications, Nigerians are out to ensure a change in the political scene.
“If you look at the political terrain, there is no doubt that Nigerians are all out for a change. This move for change was right from 2007, but PDP used its power and clamped down the hands of change. We could see this from the result of court verdicts. All the gubernatorial results that were upturned by either tribunal or appeal court were all PDP states. So it is very clear indication that Nigerians want an alternative,” he said.
He, therefore, called on other political parties to join forces together to give PDP a good fight at the polls in 2011.
“What we are appealing to all the political parties now in opposition is for us to align our forces and come together because each and every one of the other parties know that PDP has failed the country, and we cannot afford to give them another mandate, another four years, ” he said.
Mr. Shekarau said plans are already afoot to engineer an alignment of opposition parties for the purpose of defeating the ruling PDP in the coming elections.
Diagnostic centre
He described the death of the Edo State first lady as very pathetic, saying the problem facing the health sector in the country is not one of manpower, but late diagnosis of ailments as a result of lack of facilities in the sector.
“I have come to realise that what we are lacking in Nigeria is not the manpower. We have the doctors, all the professionals, well trained. Unfortunately, we haven’t the capacity, the equipment, and appropriate centres to do all these investigations early enough,” he said.
This, according to him, was why he decided to build a world class centre in Kano with the out of court settlement money from Pfizer.
According to him, the discovery of a person’s medical problem is half way to solving the problem.
“With the offer they made, we dedicated $30 million (N5 billion) to set up a medical facility. We said that we need a diagnostic and investigation centre. It is going to be the first of its kind, the best diagnostic centre in Nigeria,” he said. |
