I know a woman from Delta whose husband died this month. She was clean shaved , stripped and asked to sleep with the corpse for 3 straight days.

In anambra, widows who recently lost their husbands are forced to drink the water used in bathing the corpse.

In most Yoruba communities, all the property of the deceased is siezed by his family members usually the elder brothers and uncles and the widow is left with nothing and asked to sort out herself.

These practices has to stop. It mainly affects women from poor background. Most cases the husband's family usually makes ridiculous claims that she was the one that killed him. So pathetic.
