Give it to Tinubu, the detribalised leader. Akabueze was Tinubu's commissioner of budget in Lagos 1 Like |

kunmiiii: If he needs a godfather or benevolent sugar daddy like Tinubu to become all he has become, then is he really good? Is he really deserving? Come on. We're talking about a man who hasn't achieved anything meaningful in his life on his own. Serving Tinubu for 8 years as commissioner, and then serving Tinubu again as commissioner again for another 8 years (under Fashola), and subsequently being dragged by the blokos by Tinubu to become Budget Office DG in 2015 is hardly impressive. He is just a pathetic boy boy riding on a 'benevolent sugar daddy's goodwill, who hasn't independently proven himself to be a self-made star in the real world. Forget these useless bureaucratic government positions. Who was Okonjo Iweala's government sugar daddy'? Let the fortunate albino Bleep off. He doesn't impress sensible folks. |

valentineuwakwe: Tinubu Appoints Igbo As Commissioner Will they praise Tinubu for his wisdom, foresight and mentorship when he made Ben Akabueze the Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning back in 2007 and Fashola for keeping him on for 8 years and eventually taking him to Abuja.? 1 Like |

Some people on this thread are making a common mistake. Mr Ben Akabueze did not serve an 8 year term as a commissioner in Bola Tinubu's administration. Mr Akabueze worked at several banks in the 1980s and 1990s and rose to become the managing director and CEO of NAL Bank in 1999 (the year that Senator Bola Tinubu was sworn in as governor of Lagos). Mr Akabueze served as CEO of NAL from 1999-2005. NAL Bank was absorbed by Sterling Bank in the 2005 banking consolidation and Mr Akabueze became an executive director at Sterling Bank. He was made the Lagos State commissioner for budget and economic planning in January 2007, just a few months before Tinubu left office. He served in that position throughout the 2 tenures of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola. He was appointed as the special adviser to President Buhari on national planning in 2015 and then he was appointed as the director general of the Budget Office in 2016. |

Bolustical: Correct, he was a Commissioner for budget and fiscal planning when Tinubu was Lagos Governor. We could also look at it this way, he was a Pastor at RCCG City of David back in those days, so could have been a recommendation of VP Osinbajo. Either way, I heard the man is good at what he does, quite diligent. 1 Like |

naptu2: Tinubu set the ball rolling when he appointed him in 2007 regardless of many years he spent under Tinubu, but Fashola retained him and he served for 8 full years under Tinubu, Fashola and Tinubu pushed for his current appointment in Abuja. Simple. |
