The Times Higher Education World University Rankings are the only global performance tables that judge research-intensive universities across all their core missions which include teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

Six Nigeria Universities made it to the top 1000 world University Ranking.

OAU and LASU broke into the ranking for the first time as OAU emerged 6th in Nigeria while LASU sits 2nd place in Nigeria.

UI emerges no 1 in Nigeria.

Unilag emerges no 3 in Nigeria.

CU position dropped from no 1 in 2020 ranking and currently sits 4th place in Nigeria.

UNN sits no 5 in Nigeria

The three key Criteria for Institutions to be included in the ranking include:

-Publish a sufficient number of academic papers over a five-year period – this threshold is currently set at 1,000 papers.

-Teach Undergraduates.

-Work across a range of subjects.

ABU and UNiBEN are the only first generation universities that are absent.

I am particularly disappointed at ABU, it is only of the most funded universities in the country, why then is it falling short in rankings.

When I was in OAU , I took a crash course in MIT, that was when I realised that Nigeria public unis are too poorly managed and have zero student welfarism
