Senator Shehu Sani has praised former President Goodluck Jonathan for not taking advantage of the current security challenges in the country to criticise the Buhari administration, Igbere TV reports.

Mr Jonathan had over the weekend refused to be drawn into any questions about insecurity in the country, saying he was the wrong person to speak on it.

The former president said he had challenges during his tenure, some of which were similar to the present situation.

“I was there before and of course, you know there was a lot of insecurity. So, I am the very wrong person to make comments on the insecurity in the land,” Jonathan had said.

Reacting on Monday via Twitter, Sani commended the former leader for his comments.

“Former President Jonathan did not take advantage of the prevailing violence and bloodshed engulfing our country to embellish his tenure, he reportedly said he is not ‘the best person to speak about insecurity.’

“He exemplified humility and statesmanship in this respect,” Sani wrote.

GEJ has earned himself a national and global respect nobody can take away from him except him.

Commenting of such issue from former head of state will make headlines such as OBJ used to with his letters

The comment shows that the man is a good man with great heart, I don't think it will be the same comment if the positions were swapped.

GEJ is clearly on a different level than the rest. He conceded even before election was concluded to prevent bloodshed. He handed over peacefully without going to court even when there are evidences of underaged voting, people coming from Niger to vote, war-torn NE bringing more votes than before when there was no Bokoharam, Jega unfair distribution of PVC to disenfranchise Southerners etc.
