Adejo Arome, vice-president of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), says a significant percentage of doctors at the pediatric department of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo state, have contracted COVID-19.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, he expressed concern about the rising number of health workers who have contracted the coronavirus.

Arome, in the interview on Friday, added that one of the reasons there has been an increase in infections among health workers is that patients are not being truthful about their symptoms.

“It is so disheartening that the number of health workers being infected with COVID-19 is increasing daily and it seems nothing is being done to reduce this number,” he said.

“Apart from that, almost all the doctors in the University College Hospital (UCH), paediatric department, are infected; DASH, Lafia, almost all the doctors are infected. It is like that every day.

“I believe that every doctor in clinical practice right now should have been exposed to COVID-19.

“Patients don’t come out truthfully to tell us their symptoms. Almost everybody now knows what the symptoms of COVID-19 are.

“They will go to one hospital, the doctors will tell them that this is what is suspected, they will run away and go to another one, praying to get another diagnosis.”

He, however, urged the federal government to roll out policies that would make it unlawful for patients and their relatives to lie about their symptoms.

Honestly i give it to the doctors and nurses this period. Imagine putting their own lives at risk just to see others recover.May God Almighty continue to protect all health workers and everyone one of us. Amen

Yes , it will
The recovery rate for old people 50-70 yrs of age is 987%.
And it doesn’t damage organs , don’t know where that analysis came from tho.

Old people that died from the corona virus were destined to die , just like the will from any other disease , like flu and cancer or diabetes.

Many people are infected, recover without knowing they were infected in the first place.
It's because of our very low testing levels we are not seeing the enormity of the people that have contracted the virus in Nigeria.
I bet if the real numbers are known,of the number of people with the virus,a second lockdown would have been ordered.
The good thing is,as bad as the virus is on paper,the death rate is just about 1-3% of people that contract it.

Almost every Nigerian, not in hiding, has either been infected or just recovered... Next!!!

Sanwo Olu has said all malaria is covid-19. And I agree with him, if You have malaria - isolate yourself as much as possible during treatment. When strong or well in about a week time or two. Then you can mingle with people.

Very unfortunate our healthcare workers have become vulnerable. We lost a consultant clinician/ Lecturer yesterday. It's very painful that the masses that are being catered for have refused to be responsible.

They are human... It is an airborne virus with an interesting degree of spread. A health worker in the midst of the fray should or can easily catch it.
