There are those who lied and were immediately judged by God and suffered the consequences of that lie – Ananias and Saphira. They lied to men but ultimately they lied to God and were harshly judged because of it.
There are other accounts of some people lying for one purpose or the other. People like John the Baptist (John 1:21), the midwives of Egypt (Exo. 1:19), Rahab (Josh. 2:4) and Abraham (Gen. 20:2) but their record does not read the same as it does for Ananias and Saphira.
John the Baptist denied being Elijah but Jesus actually confirmed that he is the Elijah (Matt. 17:12-13).
Does this all mean that lying is allowed for some reasons? Or is there anything like a righteous lie?

understand them and their outcome.

if abraham had truth said sarah was his wife the king may not take sarah to be his wife.

coming to that of rahab, she betrayed her town for the life of her family, with her lie.

so also do the others, so lieing is good for no reasons

John did not see or know himself Elijah, why is that to be construed a lie on the part of John? undecided
