The rumour is rife that rival parties opppsed to the postponement of the earlier planned convention slated for Feb 26 2022 may have concluded plans to decamp from APC to the SDP. However, the fear of PDP becoming majority in NASS has also become rife. The latter would jeopardize the current hold that the ruling APC has on the legislature. Our source who pleaded anonimity because he was not authorised to sprak on the matter confided in our correspondent in Abuja, "As we speak, those in favour of the convention have started making contacts with politicians in both PDP who might also be aggrieved to join forces with them in the new party, hence a quick turn aroumd by APC CECPC is shifting thre convention by one month". Also spraking a member of the CECPC has warned those who are angry with the postponment of likely sanction. With the presidential elections scheduled for February 2023, any political party that is trobled like the APC will be drowned. The source was also worried that with the party still unclear about the political office zoning, it would would be a sure defeat going into the elections fractionalized.
Meanwhile, the former Kano governor and chieftain of PDP has started courting the SDP with the hope to running as VP in the event of the perfection of the defection.
