People saw June and July regular dates for Lagos today, so I'd advise you to join date search groups if you haven't yet.

A few of us here on Nairaland have been asking to be added to the group for a while now, still not been added. Could you share a link or add my number is +2348115718699?

Yeah, because you’re recently denied. That is why. It is always like that.

That, I sincerely don’t know of.
Hello! Trust you're good. Do you mind reviewing my DS-160 for me please? Thank you.

My emergency date was approved but the earliest date I am seeing is October. My school resumes in August. What do I do now? I have till tomorrow to pick a date

Hmmm it's like "why approve EA just to release later dates". You have to keep checking for earlier dates.

Pls who knows anybody who chose Regular after a recent denial, and then had their visa approved without any issues with the VO/Embassy.

Since I was denied, I have not been able to see any date. Some people said it's because I chose previously denied. Is it true?

If yes, won't I get into trouble at the interview if I choose Regular just to find a date?

Pls anyone?

If it's more than 6months, you can choose regular. About the other opinion, well some people were sent back last week for not answering that question correctly. I can't say you should choose regular and I can't say if you shouldn't.

Best of luck

It is not just about picking new appointment dates, I hope your situation has changed and you work on the reason(s) you were recently denied the visa.

Best of luck.

Good morning family and friends, please I need answers to these Questions

1. is it possible to get funding without GRE in spring?

2. Can 2.2 of 3.09 get admission in the USA for masters?

3. If I write GRE do I stand a better chance for funding in spring intake?

4. What schools do you suggest?

I am sorry if the question annoys you. I don't have an Idea that's why I am asking to know my stands from the experience once

Thanks

You dropped many questions without giving us your complete profile, and you expect answers.
I expected you tell us your course of study.

1. It's doable but tedious - if you enjoy doing things the harder way. (Spring effect)

2. Which of the scale? 4.0 or 5.0?

3. Yes, you do but not guaranteed.

4. Improper question.

Admittedly, your questions look annoying, but it's good you asked and I attempted to respond.

@farggie, I couldn't respond to your advise (about not going to the visa appointment separately from my spouse) on the last thread because it has been closed.

Pls, can you shed more light around how the interview was conducted? Did they assign different VOs to you and your spouse or you interviewed with the same VO at the same time?

I don't know if your spouse was asked what she will be doing in the US during your program, what was her response?

Can you also please share your transcript, you and I have certain things in common.

Thank you in anticipation.
It was just one VO that interviewed my spouse and I, they couldn't have assigned separate VO to us because it was a joint application.

In my own case it was only the primary applicant(F1) that the VO asked questions on the choice of country, choice of school, choice of course, significance of the course, who will fund the trip and living expense of the 3 dependents for the duration of the program and plans after the program

So I got May Next Year for a VISA interview but my admission is August 18 this year.

Applied for an Emergency date and I was denied.

I have stayed online to check for earlier dates to reschedule, but I have been stopped so many times on the VISA appointment website and the earliest day is January 23 2023.

Can someone add me to a group where I can track dates.?

Or what will be my next line of action.? What do you feel?

1. Yes.
2. Yes, but you need to pick universities carefully.
3. Yes I strong suggest you to take GRE because your GPA is low so if you score well in GRE then it will make your application stronger.
4. First take GRE. Then there are different facebook and other groups where people talk about their admits and funding etc., find out which universities usually give funding, you can select those universities. Also you can do google search, there are many websites with this information.

I just found strength to write this. grin
Please I need help on this.

Date: June 23rd, 2022
Time: 9:00am
Embassy: Lagos
Status: Not Approved
VO: Good morning. Pass me your passport and I-20
Me: Good morning. *I passed the requested documents*
VO: Where are you going in the US?
Me: I am going to the ******* for master’s degree in ******* with focus on Energy Conversion and Storage.
VO: *Checks the I-20 while I speak*
Me: *I continued to speak to end the awkward silence* I’ll be researching on new materials and technologies to improve the durability and efficiency of the current energy sources.
VO: Okay. Let’s talk about this deficit. Who will be paying the $27000?
Me: (I felt there was no need to talk about the yearly scholarship of $18000 since he asked about the deficit only) Besides the scholarship, my uncle will be responsible for the remaining costs.
VO: Who is he to you?
Me: (Shocked by the question) He is my uncle. My dad’s younger brother.
VO: What does he do?
Me: His company, ******, is a major distributor of engine lubricants for Total Energies and Mobil Oil. Also, he owns some properties that are on rent in Lagos and Ogun states for both commercial and residential purposes. (The VO typed as I spoke at this point)
Me: *I continued speaking to avoid the silence* He has been involved with my education is primary school as I am his favorite nephew and the oldest. He was influential in my choice of undergraduate school where he also graduated from in 1995. So, when I told him I was offered a 70% yearly tuition, he was willing to help me maximize the opportunity by supporting me financially.
(VO kept typing then he just stretched his hand towards the blue paper section. At this point, I muttered “God” and went blank. I honestly didn’t hear the first part of what he said. It most probably would have been around “…not qualified today…”.
As I was about taking the paper from him, I looked at him and he said, “ask for more scholarship”.)

I have reached out to the school, and I was told that’s the most scholarship they give to international student and the department has no funding to add now. GAs and TAs are for PhD students but can be lobbied for when in school.
I am thinking of requesting for anther I-20 from my school and including personal funds alongside my uncle’s. My uncle’s SOA had more than the deficit, but I didn’t get to present it at the interview. This is just to show there’s been a difference since my last interview. I intend to apply to Abuja this time.

I need advice on the possible next step. I just want to know if there are other things I am missing.
Thank you and God bless.

Can anyone tell what does the number next to the appointment mean? Is the number of other people who will be giving interviews at that time? Or it means something else?

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Marvel95(m): 11:16am On Jun 26, 2022
Good afternoon everyone; please if you know you currently have a scheduled date for “JULY 11 2022” It has been rescheduled by the embassy; they went ahead to cancel it themselves without any email notification. log on to your CGI portal to check.
It appears July 11 is a public holiday, Sallah.
I got that date for July 11 some months back when dates were popping up in Abuja. I have been rescheduled for August 3rd, which is not favorable for me cus my program start date is August 8th. Please any expert opinion on this?

That number is irrelevant to your cause. Just ignore it.

Unfortunately, you may have to settle for that date or keep checking the CGI portal for an earlier date. You may be fortunate to secure an earlier appointment.

Going forward, applicants should try to take note of holiday dates on the ustraveldocs website before scheduling an appointment.
